Can anyone name a worse place for cycling than Florida?

OK, within the United States, I would have to say Detroit would probably be one of the most terrible places to ride. Car-centric? It's Detroit. The city lives and breathes cars. Why would you ride a bike when you can drive a car?

I'll take confused over agressive lol. There are some aggressive drivers but most drivers seem pretty cool. Haven't had a flat down here yet, despite riding mostly road. Definitely looking forward to the spring! Going to scout out some new rides too. Have you tried the Noonday Creek trail in Kennesaw?

Lots of poorly designed road crossings, strip malls entrances, etc.

Or the one from outside a bridge in Asia as a cargo jet clips the suspension wires, other crashes and what have you.
Dashcam footage is the spaghetti western or action/adventure movie of our day.

C*pt*i* Obvious
Its year of the dog and traffic is fairly light, the best time to take some of the more "scenic" routes.

Yuma isn't that bad. The roads are mostly wide and in good shape. You get acclimated to the temperature. The big minuses are sand and goatheads ... pretty much the same as here, only a bit warmer and less attractive.

Romania. I was on a bike tour and someone threw a glass beer bottle at me. Just missed. Could have killed me at the speed the car was going. I was in the country for ten days and the people were quite rude. Dramatic difference from neighbouring Bulgaria, where people were very friendly. Never going to Romania again.

Just off the coast of Florida? Probably still Florida from the OP's standpoint. Dangit.
(Google.)
12 nautical miles off the coast of Florida. BOOM. International waters.
@prooftheory +1 on stupid evil goatheads. Satan's seed pods, those.

Yes.. Norway It's not possible to ride your bike in the winter, 3-4-5 months,-10/-20 degrees, permanent snow and ice everywhere.... Uphill and downhill as a norm.
I ride my cyclocross with spike tyres somedays, very slow rides and it is still dangerous..

Reminds me or a failed slogan
I lived in a city once which was trying to make themselves more bike friendly. They put up posters every where with the awareness slogan:
"A cyclist gets hit by a car over 11 times a day in our city"
To which some smart alec added to just about all posters ("And boy is he getting tired of it").
