Old "surfer" motorist rages on cyclist -- "You're a dead man"

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Old "surfer" motorist rages on cyclist -- "You're a dead man"

Sorry if already posted. Sadly, this seems to happen way too often these days.

Haven't seen this one here, yet. The update, though, is the dude was outed and he went to a TV station or two to apologize. Stuck me as a little bit "I'm sorry," and a significant amount of "I'm sorry that I got caught and my employer is getting hammered by the court of public opinion."

Mostly damage control. He owns the window washing company and has collected just a few negative reviews: https://www.google.com/search?q=Jack...indow+cleaning

Santa Cruz competes with Huntington Beach for the "Surf City" brand name. Seems to attract similar personalities.

As usual, the comments are quite disturbing. Shows the overall lack of respect that motorists give cyclists.

It would be wrong to over-generalize, but at least in SC, there is a lot of territorial stuff going on, but usually it is directed at competing surfers.

Yes, I posted it here:

https://www.bikeforums.net/advocacy-s...el-mar-ca.html

I sent it to CBS/KCAL, spoke with the reporter and put her in contact with the Orange County Bicycle Coalition. It was their lead story on the news that night, here is the story:

Driver Apologizes After Road Rage Caught On Camera « CBS Los Angeles

The rider reports NBPD would not take a report on it. After some social and broadcast media, they are "investigating". Not holding my breath that anything will come of it, though a NB city councilman who got the sharrows on that road is also following it.

This.

The things that angry man says would be a field day for a psychologist. So much going on behind the scenes to make someone say such disgusting things.

In my area that would be considered terroristic threatening which is a class A misdemeanor.

https://www.lrc.ky.gov/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19738

508.080 Terroristic threatening in the third degree.

(1) Except as provided in KRS 508.075 or 508.078, a person is guilty of terroristic threatening in the third degree when:

(a) He threatens to commit any crime likely to result in death or serious physical injury to another person or likely to result in substantial property damage to another person; or

(b) He intentionally makes false statements for the purpose of causing evacuation of a building, place of assembly, or facility of public transportation.

(2) Terroristic threatening in the third degree is a Class A misdemeanor

I'm no legal expert so I ask partially because I don't know and somewhat out of amazement. One thing the "surfer dude" did that struck me was when he said something to the effect that the cyclist was lucky there were witnesses around or he would have killed him. You wonder if he is just being a hot head or if there really weren't any witnesses around he would have run him into the ditch.
