Help with chain issue
Abnormal chain wear or designed that way?
When I look from the non drive side to the drive side at the inner plates of the chain I see a chip on the upper left of the plate and also on the lower right side. I'm using Shimano CN-HG701 11 speed chains and the chain plates on the inside of the chain seems to be chipping on the edges. Something like the plate circle now has a portion portion broke off that forms a flat spot on that circle.
I'm using the bike currently on a Kickr core trainer with a 105 cassette that I have not used that much.I don't think this was happening before starting to use the trainer but I'm not sure.
I just replaced the chain and it's starting again, I wish I had a new chain (tossed the small leftover piece already) to see if that is normal or not!
Thanks for any insights!

I know exactly what you are talking about, I was looking at it the other day. Totally normal. the CN701 comes that way out of the box.

James - Your picture is exactly how it looks.
So I might not have needed a new chain but the old one was old!
Thanks for clarifying that!
