1990s Tommasini Super Prestige - Date? Bar Tape?
I'm struggling to positively identify the date of this Tommasini Super Prestige. I cannot find an archive of online vintage catalog (I was told one was out there). I believe it to be circa 1993, and in the "Team Alessandra - Violet" paint scheme. Also looking for advice on bar tape (this tape is gummy). Both color and kind. For the "period correct" look I'm told that that spongy cork stuff was ubiquitous in the early 1990s, but I've never been a fan. To my eye it looks goofy, too thick. A friend told me that either light purple tape or dark yellow would be good choices. Thanks in advance.

I'd place this slightly earlier, circa 1990-1991. As built by Colorado Cyclist (the nation's largest mail order Tommasini dealer) the Allessandro livery typically came with a white Turbo saddle and white Cinelli cork tape.

As flash as the frame is, this may be the one time I'd recommend black bar tape.
But dark yellow to match the "Tommasini" decals would be nice too.
Go with tanwall tyres.

Thanks T-Mar!! But does this mean the Record Gruppo here was a later add? Maybe pretty obvious because it's brifters. Believe the components date to about 93-94, 8 speed.

Edit: Luck you, I checked by picture folder and I had already scanned the picture for another older thread.

Very nice bike, including the group!
I think golden yellow tape (not neon yellow!) would look good, especially if you want to keep the current Flite saddle. I tend to default to white on a lot of my builds and think that would work nicely as well.

[QUOTE=T-Mar;21332259]Based on 8 speed, rounded spider arms on the crankset, the black band on the headset and the non-titanium version rear derailleur, the Record group should be 1995, assuming it's not mixed. The frame may have been rebuilt or just purchased NOS circa 1995. I saw one of these NOS in a local shop slightly later than that and would have purchased it, had it been the correct size, as that is my favourite livery. I'll post a catalogue picture of this frame with white saddle and bar tape to-morrow, after I can get to the library to scan it.
Edit: Luck you, I checked by picture folder and I had already scanned the picture for another older thread.]
Thanks T-Mar. You're the best! My bike, 100%. Notice the stem, same as mine. NOT a panto'd Tommy stem (my fear was it once had one). This catalog scan is from 1992?
