Cool deal. I love the Gitane SC; that is a beautiful bike.
I might be interested in the Lazaretti if you let it go; a 58 is a better fit for me than a 56. I really like the colors on this bike. I've managed to largely steer clear of Italian bikes though; dunno why but I just like French bikes.

@verktyg
Had I known it was actually 58+ AND had a rooster stamped into it, you may not have ended up in your predicament.
Even though it is still below the bottom of my range, it may have been close enough to make it so.

Just got back in from a shakedown ride on the Super Corsa, and I’m a happy camper. The Gitane fits me like a glove, and it’s clear that I never would have been able to dial in a similar comfortable fit on the Lazzaretti due to its size. Chas- I hope that you can!
I had mentioned the possibility of a trade for a 54 cm Super Corsa earlier in my sale thread, and with a little leg work the two of us were able to put this together. A very nice bonus was meeting Chas; guru of all things Gitane!
As far as relative values of each bike; at the end of the day I’d rather have a nice Brooks Brothers suit that fits me, than a custom made Italian suit that is two sizes too big! A nice Gitane Super Corsa is nothing to sneeze at!

Chanced this week upon another example of Galmozzi constructed with the not oft seen Agrati "SPORT" pattern lug set Nr. 000.8050/U. Owner dates it as 1966. Looks a whisker earlier to my eye but then am not a Galmozzi expert...

Good eye! I think you are right about the relative ages of those two bikes- the universal Model 61 brakes and the Campy rear derailleur read that way to me also
