I thought about doing the same thing with an entry level Gravity Base Camp but now you can only get them with a suspension fork which I don't want.

I actually like the front suspension. It softens the bumps that tree roots have pushed up on the local MUPs .

I really like the look of an IGH my Moto 3i looked so clean, but they are so much more expensive than a derailleur setup and without the available range.
