Today I wussed out on riding to work because I don't have good gloves for 0 degree weather. Now I'm debating between two lobster gloves: the Giro 100 Proof or the Pearl Izumi Pro Softshell.

Any thoughts, peeps?

A couple days ago I:

https://app.strava.com/activities/38339297

Rode with a couple of roadies on a century. Did the first 50 miles up to the state line in about 2 hours--the next 50 miles were hillier and much slower. One of the guys was a beast, he was taking pulls 3-4 times as long as me and the other guy. We actually managed to find a few tough hills on the route. At least tough for me. In my normal rides the only hills I come across are bridges.

Today, after a weekend of racing and last night's Wolfpack Hustle... my legs are done.

I've also decided it's high time to get a proper fit on the raad10. If I continue on this trend, it looks like I'll almost double my miles from last year and those miles will be at a much higher intensity. I think my right cleat isn't quite positioned right, my left calf tends to cramp more than normal, and I'm still getting a bit of lower back pain, though after moving my saddle forward ~1cm, most of the soreness/pain has gone away.

The lobsters are great. I can't keep them in stock. PI actually makes a five finger glove that's warmer. They are seriously the greatest thing ever. Just depends on budget.

Today I did a routine tire inspection and pulled out a chunk of glass like 4mm round, could have been riding around with it there for like a week as far as I know. Sucker was halfway embedded and left a pretty impressive crater. +1 for RiBMos.

Yesterday I had a discussion on Twitter with a friend about Calvinism (a form of Christianity that's very old-school and evangelical) and church-planting. Today, I woke up to three new followers. One is a Calvinist pastor, one is a church-planting group, and one is a super conservative Christian counselor. I'm an atheist who is unashamed of it, and my Twitter feed is kind of vulgar. They're in for a shock.

Today I officially turned down a free place to stay and a comp music badge for SXSW because even though I technically have enough $ for the plane ticket in my savings account, I have a lot of recent CC debt to pay off and the likelihood of some major future expenses. I would have been so stressed/guilty about spending the money it would have ruined half the fun anyway.

It's possible that my friend will be able to offer me the same next year, though he said they are really clamping down on comp badges so who knows. I'm pretty bummed about it (god knows I could use a break from things here) and being an adult SUCKS sometimes.

Yup. Live in the city, ride bikes, don't drive to work = basically a grocery-getter and getting my giant dog to the vet and suchlike. Those miles also include a road trip from Chicago to Houston and back. LOL.

I realize that financially it makes no sense for me to have a car at all but I'm willing to concede it's a luxury and I can afford it and that's ok.

I sold my Subaru Legacy GT wagon a couple of years ago because having a car payment and driving an average of 18 miles a month just didn't make sense. Opening a bike shop was much more important than owning a nice car.

i drove a mazdaspeed3 and a focus ST today. mazdaspeed3 is legit, especially for the price. focus ST has bogus handling and isn't nearly as zoom zoom as the MS3. i couldn't find a WRX in the area to try...!

my parents are kind of against me getting a used car :/
