Kona Caldera. Year? Value?
This bike was donated to our all-volunteer charity that gives away over 2000 bikes each year in the Rochester area. We sell some bikes to help pay our expenses.
This bike came in and is in very nice condition. I can't locate a serial number, so first question is where should it be? We are wondering what year this is and what it might be worth. Any ball-park value will help us.
Just noticed on the front derailleur photo a gold sticker "Made in T..." Taiwan? I'll look Saturday to confirm.
The white sticker on the seat tube has been removed since the photos were taken.
Your comments?
Thanks

According to bicycle bluebook, a 2000 model in very good condition is valued at a little over $100. I believe their valuations tend to run low, but it’s a starting point.

It is a neat bike and certainly a nicer bike back in the day but 20+ years on the value goes quite a ways down unless a particularly rare bike or unique high quality bike but in the end this one won't be a huge amount of money. With a proper overhaul and cleaning and potentially proper tires it could be worth a little more but it won't be worth a mint. Still again a cool bike and probably a great ride.

It is a nice bike but 150$ should be the max you should pay for it, it is not a Kilaeua made of Reynolds 631 Tubing nor an Explosif made of Reynolds 853 tubing. The tubing is decent, you can always upgrade the transmission and the wheels. The geometry is very agressive and provides fabulous and responsive handling. This bike will serve you well .
