Thoughts on a Miele Classica

I'm building up a bike for my wife and came across an ebay listing for this Miele Classica, Tange 2. It's in good shape and a nice color, price seems a bit high though right?
The guy wouldn't budge on price, and just lowed it $20 after his 30 day auction ended, ha.

Way overpriced! That's a $200 USD frame at the absolute max.
While the frame is in really nice condition, the Classica was nowhere near the top of the Miele food chain. Tange 2 tubing was used on their mid-range offerings and would have most likely have come specced with a Shimano Exage groupset.

Ok that’s about what I though, I was willing to pay a premium for the paint job, but he turned down $350. Guess he’s in no hurry!

I live in Toronto, home of these bikes, so maybe I'm spoiled - but I'd NEVER pay that price. You can get a full Marinoni for that much $.

My wife, the typographer, was quite taken with the Miele font. Too bad it's missing an "E" on the reverse side, haha. Maybe I'll keep an eye out for a nicer specimen, what was their higher range called?

Off the top of my head, the Latina, Gara and Lupa were Miele's higher-end models, but the names in their range did change throughout the years.

As a car guy i cant help to notice how the M logo on the top tube looks exactly like BMW M logo but recolored.

If it's the bike you really want as opposed to the colour you should consider looking up here (Toronto) for one which you could find cheaper and your dollar goes a lot further. Just need to get past this COVID thing 
I picked up a frame the other week and in front of the guys apt. was this Miele locked to a rack, with a stolen wheel and some neglect. I asked him, " is this your Miele?" and he says yes. I thought, how can you let a nice bike like that sit out and rot?

We are big Miele fans here in Toronto. I love that pink frame as I had a pink white fade Alfa bike in 1988. But, it's way expensive for what it is. Miele was a more of a volume mid - low range brand as opposed to other more artisan brands like Marinoni, or Cyclops, here in Canada. Also, the Tange tubing is on not a premium brand. The total bike itself was probably $700-$800 CAD in 1989.
