Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What color bar tape?

Hey everyone, I hope I've posted this in the right place. If not, I'll be happy to move it!

It's a bit of a superficial question but the bar tape is due for a change and I'm wondering what bar tape color(s) would suit the bike. The frame is a dark mauve and the decals are light blue and white.

Thanks!

See if you can get a match for the logo blue. Or, just do black. White would be nice... for a day.

if you can't find the same blue as the logo on the down tube, just go with black and match the saddle.

You must be joking about white bar tape. Have one mechanical on the road with dirty hands, and the next thing you know that bright white is full of stains.

Darker is better. Grey or black.

Not to mention the fact that white wouldn't go with the bike in the OP at all even if it did stay white.

If you can do without much padding, microfiiber bar tape like the one from Fizik refuses to get dirty. If I were going to use white, I would make sure it would be microfiber. Heck I am lucky in not liking padding and use the Fizik on all my bikes in three different colors. Some tapes can be cleaned , but this one just doesn't even get dirty.

Look into the Cinelli cork Splash tapes, you might find a blue/black combo that will work.

Failing that, just a regular black it probably your best bet.

Mango.

Or white, with a white saddle.

If you go white avoid synthetic cork (which is really PU plastic with a splash of cork thrown in) as these are impossible to keep clean IN ANY COLOUR. There are other material choices that can be washed, along with the rest of the bike, with a little soap and water and will stay clean.

Put adhesive on your tape. Then you won't be tempted to wave because your hands will be stuck to the tape.

I have the cleaner for white bar tape and hoods.
