I Love Winter
After all the other threads, decided to extoll the joys of winter. Even in the mountain winters of New Mexico, I look back and realize I was out there as much or more in the teens and single digit temps as warmer, and limited my time in the heat of summer. Now in N. FL, I enjoy the two decent weeks we have with highs of 60 and lows around freezing. Anything above 65 is just too much as I get older. And yes, this is a serious thread.

Time to dust off the ATV/Plow, get used to riding the indoor trainer and pull the trike up on the hoist for the next 4-5months since the snowmobiles take over the bike path.

I've been thinking about trying zwift and getting a quality set of rollers or a rear support, but I can't decide if I'd rather settle on that, or spend the money on a new fixie I can thrash through the snow, ice and salt without worrying too much about maintaining it.. hmm.

The weather is ok, at least at the front end of winter. If it drags on into March, or worse, April like it did here this year, it gets increasingly intolerable.
What I hate are short dark days. I have a lot more energy in June than December. I could’t handle a winter in Fairbanks or Helsinki.

I love winter, now that I live in houston! beautiful, low humidity weather, with temperatures from the 50s to 70s. Love the bike commute to work, taking the kiddies to the park with an attached bike trailer, and grillin out in the back yard. Winters in my hometown of Toronto, not so much. It's like 'hey everybody, here's a great idea, let's drive on black ice to go to work! what could possibly go wrong?'

We have very mild winters here on the South Coast of Massachusetts. Breezes from the 70 degree ocean temperatures keeps our average summer temperatures in the 80's and the 38 ish winter waters gives us a 30 degree average temperature in the winter. Year round riding is not an issue here. (For many). When we do get snow, the roads are usually down to pavement within four hours after the storm. Every few years we get a humdinger of a snow storm, but we can live with that. (For many). I personally ride more days in the winter than I don't.

I've already moved a couple bikes to the basement, morning commute in the dark, getting the plow truck ready, bow season is here, deer camp is a couple weeks away. Construction season will end and main break season will start with 24/7 on call.
Had 5" of snow bird hunting last week and 20F lows. Soon it'll be time to get the ice fishing gear ready.
October snow

I remember this crazyness haha, then it was as if we skipped right over spring and straight into summer with no gradual inclination whatsoever. I can only imagine what this coming year will be like, considering it's been raining for almost a month straight every single day, at least here in NY.

Back in my single track mountain biking days I used to love winter. The trees would block the cold wind and the frozen ground wasn't muddy.
