Cycling paths in Irvine
Hi i live in Irvine, California right next to bill barber park. Do any of you know any good bike routes with minimal traffic lights, 30 plus miles. I usually just cycle in San Diego creek trail over and over and its getting kind of boring.
thanks!

You can go up Harvard and get on the Peters Canyon Trail either thru Harvard Park or just past Walnut. It will go all the way to Portola. Before Portola you can take a right fork up Hicks Canyon which goes up to Portola, very close to Jeffrey. Short jaunt down the sidepath, cross Jeffrey and take the Jeffrey Open Space Trail/Cypress Trail all the way to Sand Canyon at the 5. Then down Sand Canyon a short bit to the Walnut Trail which will go all the way back to Harvard.
Also from Peters Canyon you can exit W at Bryan, then take the W Irvine Trail which thru a combination of trail and sidepath allow you to ride all the way up Peters Canyon (dirt) to Canyon View/Jamboree. Can then ride a short bit further on Jamboree and ride the trails around Irvine Regional Park.

If you’re ok riding the road and not just trails check out my club, Bicycle Club of Irvine. BCI -- Bicycle Club of Irvine. Rides of varying lengths every Sat and Sun. Routes are posted on the calendar so you can try them out or come join us. But it’s Irvine, traffic lights are everywhere and new ones spring up seemingly overnight.

We lived in Irvine for 10 years. I always enjoyed Laguna Canyon to PCH and up to Huntington Beach, then inland for four or five blocks, turning right on any of the main roads paralleling the beach. It was really special back when there still were orange groves in blossom...
