Just saw this thread. I cleaned up a Bridgestone T700, which I think is from 1987. It had been sitting in the living room of a previous owner's house for years. When I first purchased it, there was a lot of gunk on the wheels and frame, and a rear rack had been placed on the stays where the rubber dampers had deteriorated and left marks. Overall, everything was pretty much stock. Replaced the tires, chain, cables, pedals and handlebar tape but kept the 80s look.

It's no earlier than a 1987 model based on the AccuShift but the 1988 version was essentially unchanged. The serial number should tell us the exact build date, which should allow us to determine whether it is a 1987 or 1988 model.

Thanks for the tip, @T-Mar! I will have to ask for the SN from my brother, who is now in possession of the T700. It's a great ride, very responsive, for a touring bike.

I have two RB-1s, one is a complete 95% OEM factory bike (missing original saddle and pedals though), and the other is a just a bare frame from '89 that's seen better days, and I've been meaning to make into a CX bike when I have the disposable cash.

I've had the complete bike up on Craigslist for the better part of a year or two after deciding to sell it since it's technically too small for me - it's a 47cm and the only year they made them was in 1990 - and is so small on me that I pass the recommended safe limit of the seat post. Another reason why I decided to sell it is because the crank is a 165mm, and I can definitely tell how much more I'm spinning and how it limits me on climbs.... I'd rather not change it out for a 170mm. Over the course of time it was up for sale, I only had one or two people I traded messages with that were interested in it, they were more interested because of the size and not the brand or anything of it. When they tried to low ball me on price, I just directed them to other bikes that were in that size range as I couldn't budge on it.

Well, a month or two ago, I just decided to say screw it, I'll keep the bike and will eventually start using it. It's really getting no hits, and no one really cares for it. I'll find a Suntour GPX or Superbe crank in a 170 and will just throw it on to use. I also need to change out the factory Richey stem and get a flat one (it's angled a bit too high for me and I like to ride very low).

When I planned on selling it, the final "swan song" of a ride I took it on was my usual Los Angeles to San Diego ride I do a few times during the summer. I just threw on the tubular wheel set and went off. I'd throw up some pictures now of the rig, but I lack the post count to be able to, so I'll do it in a day or two when I'm able.

Regarding an XO-1.......... I completely regret not buying one for CHEAP when I had a chance years ago when I just started getting into bikes.... I only knew of the RB-1 and kind of looked into the XO bikes, and found a very cheap XO-1 that was local to me, everything was standard except for the bars as they were converted to drops. At the time, I thought the main difference in the bikes from an RB was the moustache bar, and I didn't really know about the other details (I was very new to riding and bikes when this available.........) so when the seller inquired with me a 3rd time even by lowering the price, I said no......... If I recall the seller's final price was like $150 or something ridiculous now and I should had just scooped it up. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I have since been on the look out for one every now and then. They seem like cool bikes.

Yay, I was able to get my post count high enough now to post some pictures.........

Here's how the RB-1 was setup to ride from Los Angeles to San Diego. Note, the wheels are Campy Victory tubs with a 6-speed freewheel. With that, only the saddle and pedals are non factory parts, everything else is how it would had come direct from Bridgestone at the time (even the bar tape).

Picked up a sweet Bridgestone track bike recently! First two pics are how it was when I got it, last two are it's current, more city friendly build. Year unknown (late 90s, early 2000s is the guess), and it is all NJS with dura ace hubs and a nitto stem. Loving the ride.

I am new here and one reason to come here, is the bike I just bought. I wanted to go back to the 80's and I bought two bikes:

- Crescent Eddy Merckx, because 35 years ago I did not have enough money to buy it (I was 16 then), so I decided to wait...35 years

- Bridgestone Atlantis (there are very little "Bridgestone" and "BS" marks). I bought this because it was interesting and I have never seen Atlantis bike before.

I have found information about Bridgestone Atlantis bikes, but I have not found just the same bike I have. Is it ok, if I post few pictures here about it? If there is someone who knows it. I am not sure is it worth of keeping. Frame is little small to me, but then, there is something "good old times".

Frame and fork looks same than mine, also brakes (Dia-Compe 610) and brake cable hangers. My bike is without fenders and bag support. Color is light green or turquoise, depending how to see colors. Chainring looks slightly different, but it is Sugino Super Maxy with 165mm cranks. Derailleurs are SunTour VX.
Frame number is E021641. Does it tell more than just number?

Planning on changing a few things on my singled-out Ramp Rat. Probably give some gears back, as I no longer work at the airport and have hills where I live now.
Bridgestone 200. Lower end Bstone, a little on the heavy side, but served its purpose quite well. If a more ...suitable frame falls in my lap I'll probably move everything over.

-MKS pedals
-Everything else is pretty much stock

^^^ Interesting how one mixte has the rear brake mounted on "top" and the other has the brake mounted on the "bottom." Either way, it's way better than mounting to the seat stays and creating two crazy bends when none are needed.

My Bridgestone Prestino, not quite a RB-1 or MB-1 but rides well. Built up with a SRAM Automatix coaster brake rear hub with 635 SS rims and running Schwalbe 28 in Delta Cruiser tires. fun ride. Originally had a Nexus 8 speed IGH with a belt drive and dyno front hub.

Just found this Bridgestone thread, and spent too much time here.
I'm not qualified to post pics, so I'll just mention that a couple of Bridgestones have fallen in my lap.
First, I was at the local dump and noticed a decent, but filthy road bike in the pile. Kabuki Superlight that cleaned up nicely.
Front wheel was a steel trasher, but LBS had a "27 with Sunshine Pro hub and Mavic rim. "Reduced" to a one speed, with Pasela Protites, it's a solid ride.
It's certainly not superlight, about 23 lbs. without deraillers or shifters, and an old Flite saddle, but not bad.
The magnet tells me that it's all aluminum except seat tube, fork blades, and a threaded insert in the alloy BB. (See T-Mar's 12/3/17 CV entry on construction method)
Next, a friend gave me his old MB zip, which his son had been using as a utility bike...lots of rusty scrapes, no wheels, changed stem, bars, shifters.
That seems to be turning into a "gravel bike." Same friend gave me a 9 speed brifter, and spare mtn. bike wheels.
Last, my son has a very nice MB2, which I have urged him not to sell off cheap. He promises to start riding it.
