Tempest had several layers of paint/primer when I got her, I called her the 'grey bike'

I don’t have a grey bike but here is my friends 1987 Trek 520 that I helped her out with. Definitely an overlooked and understated model in the later trek touring lineup.

531 main tubes, long wheelbase (not as long as the 720), cantis, triple, mid fork eyelets and nice clearance. Catalog puts it at 24.9 lbs. She needs to trim down her brake cables.

Is this too silver to be grey? Bought earlier this year and not yet modified. I have changed to my usual VP clipless pedals and added a Jim Blackburn front rack. Shorter/higher stem, aero levers and barcons coming. Maybe a swap to 700C that might require different brakes.

My old 1983 Trek 560 fixed gear. Catalog calls the color "slate gray with red panel". 32x700 fit on there. Long gone.

hey...if those are the dia compe canti's like what i have on my '83 univega GT, then going to 700c may not require new brakes. my GT did not. i realize boss location is factor, though

Finally got a gray bike! No flashy flakes in this fine American gray to make it questionably silver.

I popped a 700C rear wheel in it months ago for a look and it appears those brakes might work but I spent no more time on it. Later.

I have a poor color memory. I forgot I own a grey bike! This is a ~1996 Lemond titanium frame. I converted it from 700c to 650b and still haven't decided if I'll keep it that way. With 38mm tires, the rear is about 1mm from the chain stays, and that means I'm out of luck if the wheel goes out of true. But it rides nicely.

When I hurt my back, I put a lot of miles on this Ross Mt. Hood as part of my rehab until I could get back on a road bike. I found a pair of them in original condition at a local second-hand shop. The other one is Miami Vice green and pink.

Ross Mt. Hood from 1987.

Last day to contribute, here's my Univega. This thing is one of those bikes which seemingly only feels right when hammered, it wants to go fast fast fast.
