I ran over a small snake yesterday. Don't know what kind but it was about two foot long green and yellow skinny snake. Wasn't moving so I think it was already dead when I mistakenly ran it over thinking it was black tar stripe on the trail.

Ran into this little fellow while I was whizzing along a somewhat busy six-lane street near my home on March 30th. I heard one, single meow that came from around my bottom bracket. I jammed on the brakes so hard and so suddenly that I almost flew over handlebars, not even taking a moment to slide my arsch off the back of the saddle.
I ran back to pick him up, but as soon as he saw me coming he fled across three lanes to the median. I ran after him, but he ran back to around where he was, where there's nothing but dirt and debris. After a few times of him traversing the three lanes - with me in pursuit - and with vehicles speeding right over him, I finally sneaked up on him from the median and jumped onto him face down on the chipseal. His mother or siblings - if he had any - where nowhere in sight.
He was barely the size of my palm - and I have really small hands. He scratched and gnawed like crazy trying to get away, but I stuffed him into my fanny pack and closed the zipper, leaving a small opening for air (which he tried to force his way through.) I pedaled the mile-or-so home, my wife and I gave him a bath with anti-fungus cat shampoo and rushed him to the vet, who gave him a clean bill of health. He said he probably wasn't even four weeks old.
We named him Terry.

On today’s ride, spotted and snagged on the road shoulder a combo 12/13mm ratcheting wrench. Found it fairly early into a 100k ride, but it stuck out of my front bag and under my bars in a reasonably unobtrusive way.

So I like probably everybody find sockets all the time. One time I found a socket and two 1/4" drive extensions (about 4" each I guess), one with a regular tip and one with a ball tip so the socket can rotate a little. Those sat around in my garage for months (I'm too lazy to properly clean)
This past week I had to change the battery in my car. I needed to reach down and undo the bolt for the clamp that held the bottom lip of the battery fixed. My eye fell on that socket and extenders, and it turned out to be not only the right size socket for the bolt, but the 2 extenders were just the right length, and the flexy head was also necessary to get the socket on from that not-quite-straight angle.

You guys find money and tools, I find concrete barriers. CalTrans is "improving" the "safety" corridor, which includes putting concrete barriers on the shoulder about three feet from the fog line, and two feet from the rumble strips. I guess it's one way to improve your bike handling skillz.

I, along with a friend of mine found cash on one of our weekend rides - 200 rupees(about $3). Doesn't seem like a lot, but here in India, that served us both some good breakfast, including a couple of fresh juices when we were back from the ride.

Multiple driver bit box
Today I found a red box with a set of driver bits in it. It may be worth a little clean-up and seeing what is usable.
