Wow. Such a long season. I am right across the river from NJ, where they grow some damn good strawberries (and blueberries). I'm talking you need a bib juicy. Depending how the spring has been, they can start showing up around Memorial Day weekend. There is a bike ride I like to do in deep south Jersey the Saturday before Memorial Day. It starts and ends near a farm stand. I always pick up some if they are available. But they are only around fresh from local farms for a few months.
The biggest problem for our winter strawberries is if we get a lot of rain, then we might not have strawberries until March/April.
I buy the ones that are organically grown, so amazing that they don’t need pesticides to grow this crazy long berry season.
The standard supermarket strawberry variety is called Chandler. They are bred for being a really firm berry that can travel long distances without getting crushed. So they are by definition not juicy. I am not such a purist that I would never ever eat them- ie if you served them to me, or bought me a flat as a gift, I’d eat them. But essentially I’d never pay money for a Chandler berry.
Because our local berries destined for the Farmers Markets don’t have to travel as far or keep as long, Farmers can grow varieties that emphasize taste and juiciness.
My favorite local variety is called Gaviota, which is juicy and very sweet. Our other main option is Seascape, a little more acidic and a good choice for folks who like a less sweet berry.
But mostly my point is that local berries can oftentimes be more juicy because juiciness relates to softness and it’s hard to get a soft berry through the standard supermarket supply chain.
I get sad on weeks that I can’t get to the farmers market because them I’m condemned to a week of supermarket fruit. Lol that’s a major first world problem, there.

We were debating that. Where else makes sense to put it? The majority of people interested in trainers and stationary bikes appear to be roadies, not mtb guys, or commuters, or tourers, not even SS/FG guys.

Those hard, white on the inside ones that you find in many supermarkets are terrible.

Made me laugh for sure.
Since you have a like/hate relationship with beets and I know you use the beet powder, have you tried this:
The black cherry taste is OK and mostly masks the beet flavor.

Zhou Nutrition Beet Complete

This is the stuff I cut my Pure Clean Performance beet powder with. Plus, I'll chomp on a BeetUm, pre-race. That looks like a nice alternative, and I'll give it a try.
Thanks!

That was the logical first impulse, but why make all the roadie guys come out of the Road forum? Do they flock to the Training forum to discuss trainers now? I could be wrong but I see most of that discussion in Road or General.

I got the 27.5 rims in and had the hubs but no spokes. So I tore apart an old 29er wheel, and figured those spokes in 4-cross might just work. They're still 2mm too long, but close enough for me. I should probably order spokes for the rear wheel...

Yep but I buy them at the farmers market, and they haven’t travelled far. Picked on Sat and then brought an hour down the road and sold at my local farmers market on Sunday, year round.
Theyre sold uncovered in little cardboard half pint boxes and if I store them that way in the fridge they last a week. Sometimes I get mold and lose some towards the end of the week.
Strawberries are sold in little pint boxes. I’ve found they store best in the fridge if you cover them. But they too last a week. We get local strawberries Febish to Oct/Novish.
Berries are so perishable that they key thing is to get them very recently picked unless you’re eating them right away, that way they last long enough for you to eat them before they die. There’s lots of negatives to SoCal life the the Berry situation is not one of them.

BTW the boat survey aka home inspection went so well that essentially there was nothing valid the guy could ask for to knock down the price. This buyer is so annoying that of course he asked for a $5000 discount.
It was without justification but we threw him a bone and said $1000.
He comes back with ok but he wants us to split the cost of the Coast Guard documentation, another $300 from us. Which it a pretty outrageous thing for him to ask for, that’s something that clearly should be on him, after he finalized the purchase.
Whatever, of course we agreed to it on account of it being 0.1% of the total dollar amount of the overall sale. But this buyer dude is seriously annoying.

Its a cash sale so we know he’s got $150k sitting in his pocket.
But the number of times he’s tried to get an extra $500 from us, or $300, or some insignificant amount like that... it’s just annoying!

Breakfast: I did brown rice cereal
Leftover cooked brown basmati rice
Milk
Shredded apple
All simmered together until some of the rice starch released
Apple pie spice
Apple syrup
Topped with blackberries and chopped pistachios
It was pretty good!

It's psychological, he doesn't want to let the cash go, that's why. Nickel and diming makes him feel like he's saving money even though it's trivial. Letting cash go hurts, financing hurts much less.

Sadly we don't have a Chipotle anywhere in this area, so I can't answer you because of ignorance. I've only been to a Chipotle once, and that's only when visiting my brother in Maryland. Sad.

Lol I have Armenian clients at work who try to negotiate every estimate I ever give them. There I just say No.
With this situation, we are playing along but pretty much all parties involved (except the buyer) thinks he’s being ridiculous, willing to risk a pretty significant deal over trivial ****. But whatever.

Edit: Just saw your cultural comment. That could account for a lot. It almost seems like a way of being sociable in some societies from that part of the world.

Bummer. Chipotle is not bad. Way better than say, Taco Bell for fast Tex-Mex food.
