Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cyclists? You can cram the pancakes in your back pocket and eat them on the road.

I took one of those tiny ones on tour with me last year. It worked, but when I got a chance to buy an hpx3, I jumped. Old school pump, but as good as they get. Twenty strokes vs 120 or so.

Welcome back. I'm curious why there is no screening or testing at the airport. I understand there ARE no tests, but still.

If I were using tubes, something bigger and more effective would be on the table. As it is, though, I think that the last time I used a pump on the side of the road was... closing in on two years ago, and that was only because I was dumb and didn't periodically check my sealant levels.

BITD, there was a ride on a bit of deserted highway in Delaware. Well, it was actually newly-built Delaware Route 1. We rode it before it was open to cars. 1993, I think.

Does bursitis attack the shoulder, elbow and wrist of the same arm at the same time? Or should I broaden my searches?

In the Bronx bike tour they used to close off part of a major highway. It IS a special, eerie feeling.

There's been some construction on I-35w for the last couple years. Last year, they had a 3-4 mile stretch shut down but, when I drove by in the car late one night, I saw pristine pavement for at least two exits up the way. I was so tempted to get my bike and come back, but passed on the opportunity. *sigh*

I did the Tour de Bronx once. I didn't get to ride on the highway - I feel ripped off. Oh wait - it was free.
