Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

it’s definitely quieter. Not by a huge amount, but noticeable. My afternoon commutes from bass crack of Georgetown to Silver Spring (by way of beach, 16 and piney branch) went down by 5+ minutes, almost close to 10 minutes on occasion.

I will head west from Bethesda. I expect nothing but tradespeople and landscapers at mid day.

Hey I am trying to leave the old Addiction club on Strava to reduce clutter. I can’t find a way to do it. Google says there is a box to check for leave club, but I don’t have it on app or full website. Is this like the Hotel California??

now that I don’t have to pick kids up after school, at least for a while, I want to start riding to work, but am having difficulty finding a good route from Silver Spring to Bethesda at around 5:30 in the morning. Tradespeople and landscapers drive one eye closed at 5:30 in the morning

Dang purple line construction closed that section of crescent trail. Once I can get to Bethesda safely, it is smooth sailing on the trail as my office is stones throw from fletchers boat house

I suppose if I dug deep enough I could identify the financial reason for such cuts ... maybe ... but on the surface it just doesn’t seem reasonable in a medical crisis to cut the salaries of medical professionals.

A little stressed, murmurs that my airline might not be around if things don’t get better.
Went shopping at walmart this morning at 6 am shelves were fully stocked and surprisingly I wasn’t the only person shopping that early.

60s today hope to get a ride in before I have to go back to work.

You should give it a try, I’m confident you will be pleasantly surprised. The drivers that time of the morning are your best drivers. They drive every day, they know where they’re going, they’re practiced, seasoned and predictable compared to the off peak granny or distracted soccer mom crowd. Safest drivers around and the traffic is much lighter than the 7:30 and beyond crowd.

well, they’re definitely much better than the regular DC drivers. At least they don’t video FaceTime while they’re on the road, but; I drive at those times. If I’m the yardstick, We’re all doomed

Or they're sleepy because they were up late dealing with something the night before and are just driving on autopilot.

River looks to be about 600' wide:

A few decades ago John Madden commented about it during the broadcast on an Eagles' game when some remote camera showed footage from the place. He basically said he was totally unimpressed when he visited the area because he always envisioned some wide, crazy dangerous river.

I was at the doctor yesterday, and when they took my temperature I was told that I was "perfectly normal"

It's got to be much scarier with the icebergs.
