SRAM PC-48 8spd chain
I found an old SRAM PC-48 8-spd chain in shrinkwrap which was certainly from my 1995 Marin Team 8spd MTB I had for the longest time. Can I use that PC-48 on a 9spd MTB? (so long as it's long enough), the box doesn't mention it..

No. 9-speed cassettes have narrower cog spacing than 7/8-speed cassettes and require a narrower 9-speed chain.

if its still new and in the packaging, lubrication .. the LBS may offer a trade in for their 9 speed..
