Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No ride today

Here's a look out of my front door this AM. A ride doesn't look too promising.

Didn't stop me. Proper gear required, though.

cast iron has it correct.

With the right gear, that is attackable. But if you majorly lack the right stuff. Break out the tea.

mmmmmmm, New Zealand. I've never been but I hear it's great (almost made it on a backpacking trip last year but just missed out). How's the weather treating you down under?

Summer officially starts tomorrow, and it has been pretty good except for this past Saturday which was the biggest day in NZ's road cycling calendar (www.cyclechallenge.com - 11500 riders) where the warmest it got all day was 12C. A few riders were treated for hypothermia.

What's the problem? I can still see a strip of pavement.

All you need is Jack Nicholson limping down the street, and that photo would be perfect.
