Would like a stretched beach cruiser
I would like one to ride around with the kids, any suggestions.
See that Phat makes one, but might be more than I need. I see many bikes made in China, but wonder if they will last.
Any feedback?
Love the look of this one.
Thanks

All the cool ones are made in a garage with a welder.
I made a few modified beach cruiser frames when I was in highschool.
I would start with a decent modern frame like an Electra or something, and go from there.
That is, if you are familiar with tig/mig welding and pipe fitting.

I've had one for a few years now....I got it for a song from an awful LBS in my area who couldn't get it to sell.
The brand is Kustom Kruisers, its a division of GT. Tig welded, probably made god-knows-where for a half a grain of rice, but the quality isn't garbage. I commuted on it for 4 months
It came stock with a Shimano Nexus 3 speed w/ a coaster brake and a Huuuuge fatty 3" wide rear tire. I put on a set of Street Sweeper fenders from Nirve. Its a boatload of fun as long as you don't encounter steep uphills.
sorry for the crappy pic.

Thanks, but no welding for me. I am the guy that buys a finished product. I would be scared to see what a bike would look like that I built?

My son has one. Chrome, springer fork, spring saddle. He loves it. Since this photo he has added a light. Lives in San Diego, so it does cruise the beach. LOL

Hey Anthem, I'm going to move this over to the General Forum. I think you'll get even more responses there though I applaud you all who responded with some good ideas as opposed to "wrong forum."

Phatcycles makes a stretch bike which is gorgeous! My sister in law has an older Phatcycle and that bike rides easy and smooth. She is mentally disabled and rides it everywhere in all conditions and beats bikes up - this one just won't die.

if you wanted to try building your own there is lots of info on https://www.atomiczombie.com/ct-oldskool.html#oldskool. you would need some basic metal working tools though.

I had a coaster brake cruiser from China from a department store. It was fine. Stuff does wear out and need replacing, but not alarmingly fast. I'd say get your stretch cruiser even if it's a low end bike. It won't fall apart from normal use assuming it's set up properly and you don't abuse it. Coaster brake cruisers are pretty hard to screw up.

As for "made in China", well,,,,,,, (shrugging) almost all of them are.
It will hold up if you are gentle with it, they are for casual riding, not made for stunt jumping or even hard pedaling.
Big seats work well with these bikes.
"Researching performance data" doesn't
Have fun.
