Nice ride @Broctoon! That's some good progress.
In San Diego we are *super* lucky to have Fiesta Island - a nearly pancake-flat 4.25 mile one-way loop with no intersections. It's great because you can stay on the gas for as little or as long as you like; I do many of my weekday pre-work interval workouts there for that reason. A 10' hot lap is a repeatable effort for me, and I've done around 9' before in a full gas effort.
I would like to get into TT as a discpline someday because I like how pure, technical and safe it can be relative to mass-start racing. It looks fun to experiment with equipment and pacing strategy and see how it affects your times. I volunteer a lot at the local TT series (on Fiesta) and it's a pretty cool scene - I've literally started 9 year old girls on mountain bikes 30s before elite state and national champs, decked out with the latest tech. Everyone is just kind of doing there own thing and there is no egos or disdain. Also everyone gets cheered for.
Of course that warrants spending lots of money on a silly overspecialized bike that probably won't get ridden too often, but that shouldn't be too big a deterrent . Also I could potentially be a competitor in some of the early season Stage Races I do instead of just playing a supporting role for faster teammates with TT bikes.

Fresh Garbage
I pedaled a bike for the first time in about 10 weeks. It's only my touring bike hooked up to a trainer for use in my PT regimen but it sure feels good to get my legs spinning again. Maybe soon enough I'll be able to take this one special lady on a tandem date

I wish all kinds of cycling were that way. In my experience, road racing involves some good down to earth folks, but also a lot of cocky, elitist, weenies with HUGE egos.

I don't think I have any cartridge bearings. I have three Campagnolo Record hubs and they're REALLLL nice.
Still kicking.
Today, well yesterday here. I managed to get a ride in.

Installed a Delta Rocket Ray on Rosa my 60s cantilevered Rollfast, for the heck of it, it's going on the Hornet or '51 Rollfast later.

Yesterday I raced (Ladera Ranch GP cat 2/3) and lost. I took off for a couple laps solo in the middle and at least won some cash so I got my race entry back.
The last few laps felt like a cat 4 race. It was too slow. There was not enough team presence/participation and no designated riders to keep it fast and prevent it from fanning out and swarming before the corners. Someone dive-bombed me with 3 corners to go (I was in good position) and made me grab a bunch of brake, losing momentum and pushing me wayyy back. That's all she wrote.
Next time!

Today I crashed. It was a pretty intense experience. Thankfully I walked away.
I have scrapes in expected places but no broken bones and my head didn't contact anything. My ribs are really sore from hitting the concrete curb - it hurts to breathe deeply and compressing the chest when bending over is painful but I have full range of motion otherwise so I think I got off easy.
I made an aggressive turn, leaned in and the front washed out. Vittoria Rubino G+ Speed are like rails and I was like WTF!? as I was going down. At first I thought it was a patch of oil on the road but waiting for my daughter to arrive I noticed the front tire was very soft. There has been lots of glass on this route recently and I suspect it caused a slow leak and the tire rolled while turning hard. The tire never came off the rim though.
The downtube sheared off at the bottom bracket, rear triangle is bent, fork snapped off at the steerer and the pedal spindle broke. No, just kidding. The bar tape ripped and the chain dropped, that's all. I'll remove the bar tape and inspect the carbon handlebar some other time. Really, f this sixteen year old aluminum bike. I don't care, but I think I will buy a new helmet just because.

Today I turned 52 and Christmas and my birthday are almost exactly 6 months apart...I woke up at around a few minutes before midnight (but neither Marie Osmond nor Olivia Newton John called with best wishes...it was calling plan hours for Australians too). My cat Socks was happy that I went back to sleep at 4 am.
A friend gave me $9 and a 2 liter bottle of diet Shasta cola and I went to my favorite mom and pop burger drive in and had an adequate double patty with ham and cheese, tater tots, diet cherry cola and an ice cream sandwich, my favorite meal there for 37 years now. Still have a buck!
Put a nice 3V vintage style headlight on my 60s cantilevered Rollfast Rosa the other day and it's PHAT. Rode at least 3 hours.

Today I got 4 old bikes for free, now I just have to restore them all.

Today I got the first of several hospital bills after being rear-ended by a careless, impatient, phone-staring driver two weeks ago. Still haven't been able to get a clear path to having his insurance pay for it. Calling some bike friendly lawyers today
Senior Member
Well looks like I will not participate in the Tour once again-just got out of the hospital with 4th back surgery. And at 72 I am running out of time to make a team 7 hours of surgery to fuse 4 levels L2 through S5 and remove old hardware at L4/5. Cleaned up a lot of stenosis. I have a 12” slice to compete in scar envy contest. The point isn’t to seek sympathy I know better than that here-lol. But to point out to you “kids “ the long term value of exercise and being fit. The nurses and doctors were amazed at how fast I am recovering and how little pain I have had. The day after surgery I walked 10 minuets and the next two days 15 minutes each. This is my new interval training! Keep riding and exercising. Besides being a lot of fun it pays off.BTW send $ cards

Cheers @bowzette!
@cali axela, bummer, hope you find a good lawyer who takes care of you. I'm sure there are more than a few in PDX who are cyclists as well that will help you get what you deserve.

TMonkl I have “gotten what I deserved “-a gift from my mother. Inherited a bad back. I would sue but she’s deceased and I am the estate. Keep riding and moving guys. It will pay off.

New Bike Day! 43lbs! sporting a two speed kick-back coaster hub.
I also took a little time to clean up the Paramount and ride around the block a few times (still not cleared the Doc to go for a ride)

But....... How can you ride that thing? It looks like a 19 or 21" model?
What year is it? 1960 something I suspect.
I'm jealous of the Bendix.
