How do we get un tagged?
What if some jerk tagged me to a thread I do not want to be tagged to?
As they did.

I can not see a legitimate use for tagging a person to a thread. It just appears to be a way to harass strangers on the forums. Is tagging an insult that follows users around, unlike a post where you move on from the insult?

You can unsubscribe from the thread in "thread tools". If you think someone is abusing the feature, you can always report them too.

A lot of people use the tag for it's intended purpose and it can be useful for people who are having discussions in forums or tagging a friend in a thread they might find useful.

But how do you know who tagged you? And why? Whatever happened to bookmarking? I have one tag on me and I'm not paying any attention to it nor do I have a clue why it's there...that seems to be of no use at all.

Unsubscribing from a thread because of a tag isn't useful either if you are following it for a good reason. But I don't quite understand the idea.

PS Being quoted 1062 times also means nothing to me, it's not an indication that anything I say makes any sense, I just got quoted a thousand times or so. I tried to explain to Tom a long time ago that everything past the date I joined. where I'm supposedly at (which is yours to know when I disclose it), post count (mostly a brag) and list of bikes is meaningless. Just am I online (which I can hide) and how to report me if you didn't like something.

Can you provide detailed instructions on how to unsubscribe from the thread I am tagged too? Better yet, how to unsubscribe from all threads.

Go to "User CP" > Edit Options. Within Edit Options there will be various notifications that you can choose to either disable for enable.



If you'd like to unsubscribe from a specific thread, go to "Thread Tools", there will be an option to unsubscribe from the thread.

It says I am subscribed to 0 threads.
Hopefully I unsubcribed from all threads.
I am still tagged to a thread, that someone tagged me too as an insult!

Someone else should not be able to attach something to my icon.

What the heck IS a tag anyway? And yes, I think it's something we should be able to get rid of, except that is seems to be some kind of reference for the other person.

Is it a follow? Is it like a bookmark?

Does it just bug the dickens out of people who want more control over their account?

I think people think it's, "Tag, you're it"!

But do explain it, I'm not social, I have an auntie named Social tho'

The tag is meant to be used when you find something that might be of interest to someone you know. Say your friend is in the market for a new bike, and you find a bike that they've been talking about. You can tag them in the post so that they can be directed to it. Like anything else on a forum, it can be abused. What's to stop someone from constantly quoting you to clog your notifications? If you don't like how someone is using the forum tools in reference to your account, you can report the post.

Cept I turned off all email but for PMs and the weekly digest.

I don't know how to tag anyway. I suspect this causes paranoia for others.

Can you direct me to the post you're tagged in so i can try and figure out why you're receiving notifications?

I would have no clue. I don't receive notifications, it's just listed under my avatar.

I may have found it earlier but I can't remember how at the moment.

None of this solves anything as far as I can tell. I don't think Tom Stormcrowe's sticky is correct anymore. I'll look one more time, mainly for the OP.

Still, I wouldn't expect to know why or where I was 'tagged', that was somebody else's forum action.

Okay, I found the tag restriction setting and checked it but that doesn't remove it from the list under my avatar.

I think at least three of us would like that removed. I'm not even sure why Mentions and Quotes matter...I have a count of more than 6,510 posts, it might mean more if you only had 200.

I haven't a thing against them but I had to look in my profile to find the Tagged threads tab.

And that thread was closed last year IIRC (2017, last time I probably posted there)

And at 101 pages, who knows where or for what because the Addiction... link goes to page one...let's post again and click on stuff.

The answer is no on all links, there is no link to the post tagged. The IDs go to profiles, [IMG] does nothing and if you click the yellow jersey...you guessed it...you open a picture window of the icon.

tagged is on the bottom left after clicking user cp.

It claims I am not subscribed to anything, yet my icon says tagged 1 thread.

Why can a stranger add something to my avatar and have it follow me around for life?

Tagging is no good and should be removed from the forum.
