I think it was about 65ish. I've had the tires on for a couple of weeks... they were 85 then just to get the beads to seat and I haven't touched them since. I definitely wouldn't want to go any lower than that. This is over at Blue Mountain Reservation in New York State, so most of it is singletrack. There is one gravel road around the outside and some easier wide track mixed in that's just barely doable.

These aren't the best tires. They are Kenda QuikRoller "Holiday" - They came OEM on my Montague Navigator commuter and they are not extremely impressive. If the gravel road hit a pitch that required me to stand up - or I just felt like standing up, the back-end would spin out without my weight directly over the back wheel. Not sure this means I need better tires or I need a 40t cassette so I can kick back and spin, but I don't want to lose the ability to stand up to power up a hill if I feel like it, so I think real tires may be in order.

A couple of other small tweaks and it's time to get into shape for the D2R2.

Always love seeing old barns. The history and whatnot.
The river shot is from a 3day gravel and trail tour in central Missouri late last summer.

Didn't get many photos as I was trying to just ride, but thought this one was pretty good.

Passed a group of bearded gravel riders. Of note is that this is about 25-30mi of gravel road with 2500-3500 of vertical about 1.5 hours north of NYC, accessible by Metro North, not too far from the Garrison station.

Some images from my recent ride along some canal gravel and limstone trails. I included the image of a tiny paved section simply cause I liked the photo

Shake down ride for my new gravel bike today to my favorite bridge, or rather what is left of one. Bonnie and Clyde used it as a get away route after robbing a bank in nearby Pilot Point. It was nice being able to ride the whole distance instead of drive up to the trail, a gravel road converted into a double track trail.

Illinois Prairie Path?

I was there near Wheaton. Went for a run when I was in Chicago on business and training for a marathon.

There was a Lincoln Field or something like that? I couldn't figure how to get out of the place and kept running around in circles. LOL.

Was very memorable. Very pretty, wildflowers growing all over and such.

A Paragon Machine Works drive-side slider plate with RD hanger. That gap of light between a flat pen-shaft and the inside face....that is what happens when someone knocks your bike over at camp . That gap is also why my Di2 shifting was crap the morning of Day 3, luckily an index-adustment made the shifting "good enough" for the remainder of the tour.*

*Specifically ordered a spare slider plate (then left it in my car) in case this happened...

Ah!

I thought you stacked your frame on top of the slider plate and put the slider plate on the hood of an old, beat up red Chevy and then took a photo or something like that. Was wondering what you were tryring to communicate LoL.

Glad you were able to finish the ride.

It was a beastie. The gravel days, lots 2" deep fresh dumped pea gravel. Some folks brought 3-4" class MTBs and just floated over the stuff. Me and my 45mm tires sank into it. Lots of MMR with fine-dust dirt. Oy. The other bike in the Arcadia photo, belonged to a mate who rode DK...he said the surface was way worse than DK this year.

Day 3...pavement in the sandhills with 35MPH surface winds gusting to 40+ for the first 20 miles. Lots of folks left camp in the morning only to abort and turn around and return to Day 3 camp.

Deep sand or gravel is demoralizing. I don't envy you.

Congrats on completing the ride.

DK surfaces were like a super highway this year.

I did Gravel Worlds last year and that pea gravel you folks have up there can be brutal stuff, especially when it's wet. Last year GW was fun but the first 30 miles or so were still pretty soggy from overnight storms and was an intense workout. It dried up as the day went on and was fine, but nasty when it's wet.
