thanks! there's very little left of the original bike 
i'll probably put a selle italia SLR saddle on it too.
and sadly the seatpost has to go, in exchange for something more forward.

i'm converting my old roadie in to a tri bike... all i need are some areo bars & shifters/ levers. if anyone has anything that they could contribute via trade, please let me know. as soon as the transformation is complete i will post the pretty lady.

Steel is real!
Here is my 92 Nishiki Sport, that I have had since high school, after her fresh rebuild at the end of 2006. I am still waiting on the correct seat post but this gets the job done for now! I have done one Tri and love passing those guys on the $3,000 rigs.

I repowdercoated my frame this week to mix it up a bit. New HED bars and wheels too.

Newb question: why do tri bikes have more aggressive geometry than road racers? You would think that if the aggressive geometry provides some benefit for speed then road racers should want that more because they don't have to swim or run in addition to biking.

Meaning, having an aerodynamic position in road racing, while still important, is not important enough to sacrifice handling, braking ,etc..
There are two places (I am sure there are more) that I can think of off the top of my head in road stage races that the aero position is of utmost importance.

^ So the compromise to Tri bike (relative to a road bike) is handling? You seems suggest that. I ask because I have never ridden a Tri bike.

Just had her built up today:
Dura Ace drivetrain except for cranks & rival brakes.
Various mix of other things that I picked for looks/performance (thomson post, vision basebar, profile s-bends, and I LOVE my oval red carbon brake levers)
Not totally complete (ie: missing tape), but all that is going to be taken care of by the time final fitting & adjustment is completed. I also have a set of HED Alps getting put on once I have them redished and trued up.

Here's mine. I just added the aerobars last week (Profile Design T2+). Weight is right around 23 lbs with a water bottle. I haven't upgraded much though the current wheels (Xero Lite XR1) were essentially a necessary upgrade since i b0rk3d the rear wheel from the original set (Xero XSR-3) when hopping over a drain gutter grate. Current tires are a Michelin Dynamic on the rear (rotated from the front) and a Krylion Carbon on the front. Topeak Road Morph pump is on the seat tube, and i've got a pouch for food on the top tube, a gel flask on the stem, and the cyclometer (Cateye Astrale 8) mounted to a Minoura Swing Grip under the stem. Seat is the original Fizik Aliante with a DeSoto neoprene cover. Drivetrain includes Truvativ compact cranks (with 50/34 chainrings), 105 rear derailuer, Tiagra front derailuer, and a SRAM 12-26 casette (from which i removed the 26t cog and replaced it with a 29t cog for climbing).

heres mine, been ridin a hand-me-down diamondback roadie from a neighbor... but finally invested last month in a trek 1000 58cm... i absolutely love it! ill be doin my first tri come june 3rd its a sprint and my 12 week training program leads right up to race day so im psyched! heres a pic, completely stock... forgive the wheel reflectors, newbie hasnt taken em off yet lol
