Just got my Rocky Mountain Solo CXR today. I don't have a digital camera so I'll just have to post a stock pic.

The only difference between mine and the stock pic is that mine came with an Easton EC90X fork. Apparently the factory accidentally put a bunch of those on instead of the EC70 ones, so I basically got a free fork upgrade. Spoon!

Supposedly Rocky had contracted with Easton for the EC70X, but Easton ran out due to underestimating the demand. Rocky, who has a good relationship with Easton, got the 90X's at the same cost so they could ship the bikes. Definately sweet for the consumer!

It reminds me of my SPOT Singlespeed I had 7 years ago (or was it 6?). It is very comfortable for hardpack trails and is a smooth handler. I feel at home in the positioning it provides for stock geometry and it actually fits near perfectly from what I can tell. The frame is well constructed and seems well-suited for its intended purpose. I have only had it out for a total of 9 hours of riding (none of them race hours yet) and have put it through whatever trails I can locate - there are some hidden BMX paths nearby and it performed in nicely there.

The process by which I acquired the frame was more of a trial - yet the On*One/Zedsport folks really helped me out. A few problems, but they always kept in contact. I even scored a free knit beanie from being super patient since the order was mis-routed!
Make sure you go through Zedsport if you order a frame - and call it in!

Well that's a shot that loves to love - nice bike. Is that the 54 or 55.5 effective top tube frame?

55.5 - I am 5'10" with a 32 inseam. There was a slight misunderstanding on the frame size, (I ordered through On*One at first, but my order was re-routed to Zedsport - the short story is it worked out perfectly, just had to be patient), but a man from the Zedsport facility called to double-check before they shipped - otherwise, I would have ended up with the XL, which is 57.6cm TT.

Was it the older guy w/ the British accent at Zedport? I swear, he must be the only one in the whole place.

5'10" - 33.5 inseam over here. I should go for a 54ett Pompino based on my freakishly short torso, but then I'd be dealing with a head tube that's way too short and a ridiculous amount of drop from the saddle to the bars. Thanks for the info on everything, this helps me visualize my setup.

I used a razor blade and an acute angle to slowly carve the decals off. The razor was at a 15 degree angle or so. I did manage to scrape the coating a bit here and there. I only noticed the scraps for a day or two though.

Give yourself a good hour or more to remove the decals.

Set up for winter commuting at the moment. I built these wheels just for running in snow and crap, Coda competition hubs (which I've been told are a DT product), Mavic SUP rims, Sapim db spokes, 28h 2X. I'm running a single ring (42) and one bar-end for shifting the DA 7800 series rear derailleur. Empella brakes and levers. I have another set of wheels that are tubulars (DA/fir st-120 32 3x) that have Vittoria EVO XGs and I actually prefer those for snow over 4". The bars on this bike are an old set of Modolos off my early 90s era Pinarello, I really like the bend on them but no cable channels- people used to drill them and run the cables internally for what were called "aero levers" back then. I think Empellas are sturdy MFing frames-probably a little too sturdy, weighs as much as a surley I bet

Gunnar Crosshairs that I've had since '00. It is now a mish-mosh of parts (campagnolo w/ D.A Crank), but will ve evenly dressed soon. To its credit, its one tough little bike.

PS: the seat is going to be swapped later on today.
