Since Thatcher School, (high point on the route), is early in the ride, we'll be in and out of Ojai and over Casitas Pass before it starts warming up. Some people may want to consider arm warmers. It was foggy last year until the rest stop near Lake Casitas.

Just about perfect temp. Will make the return trip from Goleta very enjoyable.

Might as well use this thread for Cool Breeze Roll Call. Sound off! Which ride are you doing and how can we recognize you out there?

My 3D name is Chris, I'm doing the Metric this year with my Sweetheart, Lauretta. And I'll be the Hinault/Lemond wannabe cruising the old Look, and probably stinking to high Heaven of garlic, since we're hitting the Stinking Rose on the way up:

I'll be riding the century on my beater Roubaix (boat anchor blue in color) and likely sporting my new arrogant bastard ale jersey.

We're driving up in the AM so probably starting the ride between 8 and 8:30 or so.

Can somebody enlighten me as to how frequent the rest stops are and what kind of snacks they have? I'm trying to plan my water and clif bar consumption. The info on the ci bike site is terrible.

Not sure how many rest stops they have, but if you watch closely at 0:32 of this video, you see me ride by as this awesome kid is pranking this reporter at the Kardashian wedding in Montecito last year:

Rest stops for the Century are about 13 miles, 30 miles, 55 miles (lunch), 70 miles and about 90, more or less. Generally pretty good complement of food. The lunch is well stocked.

Plenty of rest stops. You need not worry on that account. And, if you need to, you are never very far from a store/mini-mart. Have to disagree about the "well-stocked lunch". By the time I got there, (double metric century, so the last of the ride routes to arrive), there was no turkey or other meat left. Just bread, chips, pastry junk and a some slices of cheese. Plenty of liquids, however.

I'm riding the double-metric century again this year. It is my birthday on Saturday and I'm going to ride double my age in miles. Will check in right at 6:00 when they open and hit the road as soon as I get my bib and jersey. The official start time is 6:30, but the only thing I'd miss is the water stop at Thatcher School. By the time I get to the Lake Casitas rest stop, they will be open. Not sure what kit I'll be wearing, but I'll be on my blue/black/white Pinarello FP6.

I'll be the old geezer on an ancient steel-framed Trek huffing and puffing on the Metric.

I'm easy to identify -- Taupe frame (brown/tan) with yellow and red bar tape. If you see me wave!

BTW -- this ride is a virtual repeat of the first group ride I ever did; the "Kangaroo Baggs" ride back in ~1985.

I am doing the double metric and riding a cannondale with a black cannondale jersey. I will probably start around 6:30-7. The lunch at 55 miles has alwasy been very well stocked but the lunch at 124 miles does get a little thin. I guess i will try to start sooner.

My son, Danny, is making the trek up from Long Beach and we're doing the Century. I'm on a matte black & silver Tricross Comp, and will probably wear an old Tour De Sewer jersey. Danny's on a black & yellow Scott Speedster and will probably be wearing his Arrogant Bastard Ale kit. First century ride for me in a while, so I'm a little nervous, but pretty stoked anyways! It will be great to get out of triple digit temps at least for the afternoon.

I forgot to mention -- this was also the siren song for my 1983 Trek 620; it will be relegated to backup status as I bring my new-to-me Roubaix online. I can't bear to sell the old gal so she will be left on the trainer most of the time, along with a few evening training rides. She's been good to me but time and technology have moved on...

I think I saw 5 other Arrogant Bastards, so if you were one of 'em I probably said hi.

I also briefly met the world famous Calamari Chris on the way out of the lot, so that was a highlight too.

Always the best-run of centuries, with excellent signage, sag support, and huge number of friendly volunteers. This was my sixth Cool Breeze in seven years; it's come to mean a lot to me as a statement about health, attitude, and the beauty of southern California.
