Odd question, might be stupid....underware?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

AEsco48, welcome to the forums. Your question is not at all a stupid one. We were all newbies to the sport of cycling at one time, and except for a few full-time freeballers, we all needed to be told:

No underwear under bike shorts for any reason ever. No excuses.

That's why I'm here.

You have found that underwear under lycra shorts are a one way ticket to Saddle Sore City. Lose the skivvies. If you still need a lube of some kind, there are many products available. Vaseline is not the best as it will clog pores. Some people swear by Bag Balm. Others like Body Glide. Chamois Butt'r is a bicycle specific product and very good. My presonal favorite is Assos Chamois Creme. It's a little spendy, but, hey, isn't your ass worth it?

Now that I've weighed in, the thread can end.

(Mods, lock the thread before DnvrFox finds it!)

Gold! I love it.

Shorts shouldn't go in the dryer, champ. That's what's wrecking them. And washing thiem in the shower probably isn't killing all them nasties.

Wash them on gentles cycle in the machine/cold water with an anti-bacterial powder or liquid soap. then hang over a door knob to dry in the shade.

I don't put them in the dryer, champ. I said it wasn't a good idea to put them in the dryer. And I've never had a problem wrecking my shorts.
I'm sure you were just trying to be helpful.

DnvrFox must be stopped! Many a fine ass has been ripped asunder due to his brazen disregard for gluteal physiology.

I wear underwear, I ride a triple, and I love the mountain bike shoes I wear on my road bike.

Does this make us enemies?

No Vaseline. That stick you found might be Bodyglide. That's what I use. Put it on well all over anything that sits on something or rubs against anything. I found that Bodyglide lasts a lot longer than Chamois Creme. Chamois Creme makes small packets to carry with you on long rides. There's a reason that these are needed. Bodyglide does not come completely off without me washing the area with Safeguard at least twice, so it lasts.

I wear nothing! Never have. Riding or not!

I am a believer that some sadistic, rejected man created the thong.
Please explain to me why we need underwear to begin with?
Do we really feel naked without them?
Possibly for purely cosmetic reasons, I agree they look fab in a Victoria's Secret catalog.

But what fun would sheepskin seat covers be with undies? I mean, isn't that the whole point to wearing skirts? And seriously, do you think the engineers in Germany are really designing heated leather seats for skiers?

Sorry to keep this thread alive any longer than necessary...but do you really want to know?

Of course. I can only imagine undies for girls would be more uncomfortable than men.
