78 degrees F in east Texas today..

and it is supposed to be in the mid-seventies tomorrow, too. Time to brave getting killed by the hunters and go for a ride!

Are you kidding? We are supposed to get freezing rain and snow mix today and tomorrow! Winter ice warning for the next 24 hrs! I was thinking about puting my studded snows on and riding to work tomorrow. I have to ride in traffic and I think about the safety. I rode to work in the last snow storm we had. It was really fun. It took a while because of the crazy drivers, but it was fun.

70s in Texas? Sounds like great weather. Wear Blaze Orange and...Ride, ride, ride!

Wow! great Winter!... we're only 107F cooler here in Saskatoon SK!... no really (-29F, but it's a dry cold)
I don't have to worry about hunters though - bullets can't penetrate air at these temps

We had 78 F a week ago. Now we have Winter Storm warning and ice on everything. Oh well, I rode 20 miles this morning on the studded tires. Man was it serene out in the country with everything covered in crystal. Peaceful. Very Peaceful.

As a fellow who considers himself unlucky, I am comfortable saying that I caught a HUGE break with this hot weather we're getting around here. 60-65 degrees in early January? I picked a great winter to commit to riding full-time.

I packed on a good deal of weight during the last two winters. So far since December 1st, I've lost seven pounds. I'm concerned that I might be dropping weight _too_ fast. Just riding five days a week consistently. Base too. Nothing fancy about it. Took a day off Sunday. Went out yesterday and felt as strong as a bull. It's been a great way to get the year started.

My condolences. It's sad you'll never enjoy riding in the ice and snow.

Frankly, I wish it would get COLD and stay there a while. One, it'll kill off a bunch of bugs making next Spring and Summer more liveable. Two, I'm all prepared for cold weather, and I wanna ride in the cold again! It's great props when someone stares incredulously as you go by - or asks if it's cold and you say it's just right - or too warm!

Well said, there's something which just can't be beat by riding in crisp -10°F air and being warm. MM, MM GOOD!

It's still new enough to me that I'm reveling in that feeling. Whodathunk that I'd be *enjoying* riding when pedestrians and cagers are worried about frostbite? I get on the bus all warmed up, and I start stripping off my layers before I sweat down into a puddle - and its already HOT on the bus!

Today it got to 74F here in Charlotte. I rode to the bus station in t-shirt and jeans. I saw people at the station in full winter garb!! What is up with that???

Yeah yeah...sounds like real fun. NOT!

EDIT: Oh, well, the high today will be 78 again but tomorrow the high is supposed to be only 38. Got to love these east Texas winters!
