Clavicle Club
Well, I'm in the club. Came off the bike doing about 30 mph downhill. Non-displaced fracture of the right clavicle. (I'm typing one-handed). Plentiful road rash.
Witnesses describe the crash as "spectacular."
My helmet was unscathed. Thank goodness! Helmets are expensive.

The Old Mill is on. I'll be working it anyway...not riding.

Man, I hate broken bones. Heal fast, babe. You'll be riding again before you know it.

Didn't break it, but the constant right hand turns over a curb at my local crit has ruined my shoulder and is forcing me to have to go under the knife this fall for a Distal Clavicle Excision (they will saw off about 3 cm from the end of my clavicle).
Next year I am going to get a bag of cement and smooth out the bump in the middle of the night.

I joined the clavicle club about 30 years ago, going over the bars of my cousin's stingray bike. Four weeks
later I was riding again (even with the bulky cast). Not a bad bone to break, comparatively speaking.

A few years ago I pulled my best (worst) header ever and thought I had broken my clavicle. When they X-rayed it they handed me cloth bags filled with lead shot and told me to hold them down by my side. That increased the pain exponentially. What really got me though was that the X-ray tech handed me the bags and then decided to adjust the machine. Nice. After looking at the films they decided that it wasn't broken, that I just had major internal bruising. To this day I think they were wrong because it hurt for months after the accident.
RegularGuy, glad you weren't hurt worse. A broken collar bone sucks, but not as bad as a broken neck.

I hope a few days has made a little difference and you are feeling better, boyfriend. How soon before you can get back on your bike, do you think?
Heal quickly!
