Tommasini Question

Anyone ever seen a Tommasini with this seat stay treatment (missing the panto "T" in the middle) and this bottom bracket cut out? This is early 80's I believe, the Racing model. Concerned about authenticity. Awaiting word back from Barbara at Tommasini. Thanks for any info.

Many details point in the right direction.

Lugs on the head tube with cutouts that look just like my early 80s "Racing" model.

Fork looks good.

Rear brake bridge looks correct.

Three lines on the seat stay.

Decal set.

FWIW Two of my "Super Prestige" models had zippo on the stays. Must have finished those on a Friday after lunch....

Very cool frameset/bike btw. Always interested to hear what Barb and the family has to say about these bikes. They are very good at returning messages. imho

Based on the Portacatena dropouts, front derailleur braze-on and decal style, I'd place this circa 1982-1983, maybe 1984. It could be a Racing or Tre-Tubi, though the presence of a Columbus decal on the fork suggests the former. Still, given the availability of Columbus reproduction decals, I'd be checking the inside of the bottom of the fork's steerer tube for the presence of the five helical ridges indicative of a Columbus steerer tube.

That's interesting.

Barb at Tommasini also placed my "Racing" frameset at 1982.

It had a SL frameset decal, but when I asked about that, she said "probably. "
