Folks Gathering in Glenwood Springs, CO for 1st 50+ Annual Ride
I am having a real problem with correlating screen names, real names and email addresses.
Perhaps folks can fill me in here.
We have a couple of folks checked in to the Caravan Motel in GWS. jppe has been there, but is headed to MOAB for a couple of days.
billydonn is in Ogalala, NE tonight.... about six hours easy drive to GS tomorrow morning. Staying at Holiday Inn Express, so I should be pro quality rider by tomorrow!
will dehne is gallavanting around Breckenridge to arrive soon, and tuning up his "engine."
Beverly is in Limon, CO to arrive tomorrow
Yen and hubbie are on the way somewhere
Denver and Nora have a MD appt about Andy at 9:00 am tomorrow in Denver and will arrive in GWS Friday pm.
Others are on their way, but I can't keep up!!
Help me out!!

If you don't post pictures, the event did not occur.

We are busy biking but pictures are being taken. Billydonn and I did GWS through Glenwood Canyon Today. It is a remarkable place of American Engineering and spending money for things other then just utility. They dug a long tunnel just to preserve a beautiful lake and valley.
This is nice but we need more of that.
In case someone wants to go there, Breckenridge is a good place for biking and Mountain Hiking. Bike paths go to Frisco, CO and on to Vail. Round trip is over 100 challenging miles with hairpin curves and big elevation changes. Scenery beyond description. We will post pictures as we have time.

The first thing one must do is eat!! Here are some pictures. I am having problems uploading to my web page, so I am uploading to BFN
Beverly, Art (Artmo), Maureen, Nora, Denver, Billydonn, Will, Helga are all pictured here
This is at the restaurant at the motel. Today, Beverly, Nora and Denver will explore one section of the Rio Grande Trail.
Will wants to know why we don't have trails bordering all of I-70, from border to border.

Did not take my camera on yesterday's excursion with Will Dehne, and I regret that. Will not make the same mistake today. (Pictures= a good excuse to stop and recover after an uphill stretch!?) Here's what I have so far.

Bikes were on ground yesterday... and today. 67 miles round trip from Glenwood Springs to Woody Creek Tavern and return. It was not a great challenge for W. Dehne, but it was my second longest ride ever. There was some suffering during midride due to seatpost-creep induced quad-fry. Keep your seatpost clamps snug.
All ended well. And we will be dining in style tonight. Now, where is my ibuprofin?

Great pics! The shot with the bike rack full of bikes - is that all from your group, or is that just an indication of how many cyclists are out enjoying that path?

Just cyclists out enjoying the area. The WCT is maybe 7-8 miles below Aspen and about 33.5 miles up from Glenwood Springs.... hence the 67 mile ride report. It was very busy.

Tonight's BF 50+ Glenwood Springs Restaurant Review:
Arthur Woods and wife Maureen (artmo), Will and Helga Dehne (Will Dehne), and Don Greer (billydonn) dined tonight at the Riviera and found it to be excellent. The conversation and company was even better. This group will be riding together tomorrow.

I love the little cut out sign in the last pic - thats pretty cool. I also like the Patagonia recycling bins, I guess thats were your supposed to stuff your fleece jackets when you are done with them

Please do not post any more pictures of the great meals, beautiful scenery, great bikes, and nice rides. I can't take it, I am absolutely turning green with envy. This is torture far superior to water boarding.
P.S. Oh go ahead and have a good time...

I was already jealous of you folks being able to get out there for this, but the pictures from Woody Creek Tavern really hit home. I hope you tipped a mug or three to the good doctor (HST) for me.
