Straight axel, bearings are in cages and all there. I must’ve bent the dust cover when I put it back in. Had an extra that I carefully installed and everything is fine now.

Right or wrong I’ve never bothered measuring the chainline. As long as the inner chainring doesn’t rub the chainstay and I get good shifting through all the cogs, I’m happy.

I had a bike from 1895, it had the fork pegs clamped on. I found out it was because the rear hub was fixed. So when you got going down hill you just put your feet on the pegs and let the cranks fly.
