OMG. That's the *EXACT* bike I started on. I've wanted one of those ever since I was dumb enough to get rid of mine. Like... it nearly brings a tear to my eye.

When I raced back in the day I raced for Competition Plus, a bike store in Whittier CA. Comp Plus was owned by George "Mac" McDougall, father of Kelly McDougall who raced for Factory Torker. Kelly's mentioned on that page.

SE Racing STR-1 or any G-Boy are quite rare and very sought after.

ha! I had that exact torker frame, I sold it on ebat few years back, think it fetched close to 500.

my bike was full of rare stuff.

LRP pedal cages
first run flitecranks,
torker stem
mongoose stainless bars.
z rims

when the day was done and all of it was parted up and sold off on ebay I was 1500 bucks richer.

then I went and bought the bike of my dreams and still have a thousand left over
-early 80's Puch mistral Ultima with full campy bits, weight is just over 9 kilos.

come to think of it, i used to live in baltimore, and I remember mr hutch was talking with me on buying one of their frames, I remember the rear brake mount with the H U T C H , the T was slotted for the brake, his chrome was pretty crummy in the beginning....boy what that bike would be worth today!
they were just starting into the frame business then, Still heavy into mail order.

talking about Torkers I have a chrome Torker scooter with mags.

I find it rather funny that a Hutch would be so sought after. I recall seeing quite a few of those snap off at the headset. The only other bike I can recall seeing break was a Diamondback, and they were about half the price of the Hutch.

Well, since the thread is revived anyway, I will go ahead and say that, while I agree that Hutch's are very much sought after, for me personally, I always wanted (and still do) a Mongoose Blue Max. My brother and I both had Ross's. I'm not sure what the model name was, as this was a loooooooooonng time ago. I loved my bike, but every chance I got I would go down to this hardware store (can't remember the name of the store, but it had the word "Western" in it) and would just stand there and stare and drool at the beautiful Blue Max they had for sale.

I would like to DR 650 Wheels bike.

If we're talking actual BMX (as in Bicycle Moto Cross), I would wager clean mid-school era Cannondale, Jad, Hawks, and Elf Gang Green and Traction Plate frames will be worth major cash in the next ten years if they aren't already. Cannondale's BMX frames were stunning.

Western Auto , ----- the Blue Max's were carried by Otasco in Oklahoma , --- i didnt know they were Mongoose's -- just a special run they made like the old Roger DeCoster and FMF frames I take it?

I got my introduction to BMX on a "330" Team Murray --- i tricked it out with gold anodized V-bars and a heavy gold anodized "gooseneck" - Comp 3's, pads, imitation Oakley 3 grips and anything else i could scrounge up ----
--- Things like Mongoose's and Redlines were for "rich kids" - LOL

I know the SE Racing PK Ripper was quite sought after even 15yrs ago. My son still has his looptailer. He raced it at Waterford Oaks back in 2000.

Well I grew up in heyday of BMX but pretty much outgrew it and went on to early MTB and Campy/Dura Ace type race bikes. So now I am trying to recollect all the old school BMX brands etc. but complete sticker shock on what these bikes and parts are going for now. I laugh at Motomags $$ especially because how heavy and sucky they were. I couldn't wait to get rid of those when i had them on a bike and get nice set of anodised rims with good hubs like Bullseyes

So I had a Redline proline and a Champion way back when. Other top brands in NorCal at least were Cook Bros, FMF and Schwinn Sting and Patterson. Mongooses were around but not always considered top.

I think this Cooks Bros. on ebay at auction is set up real nice. Always wanted that particular bike but couldn't afford it then or now! wonder what this will top out at?

Unbelievable that in comparison an old Prestige tubing MTB with Deore XT can be had for like $300

most sought after would have to be the Cook Bros 26" 3-Bar Cruiser....only the elite collectors can now afford them ...unless you get lucky....Skyway also built a 24" T/A Cruiser that was ONLY built for their factory team riders....like 5 or six or something like that. there were only 2 known left to exist ...that is until I found the third just north of San Francisco at a flea market about 12 years ago ...like a dumbass, I re-homed it....the new one is cool but a definate reproduction, most dont know about that bit of bmx history....I think the above mentioned earlier reply about the mid-school 24"Elf Traction Plate will be a highly desirable bike in the future ....and maybe the Specialized Hemi.....the ORIGINAL 74-75 Champion built by Doug Schwarma is Pretty coveted too ...and for good reason....they were incredible works of art that were only built for about a year or so....and then re-introduced by Lynn Kastan of Redline a few years later....The GJS Freestyler is another extremely rare bike with Jeff welding those himself I read somewhere....I should just stop because the list of rare EARLY BMX goes on and on....and I love that stuff ! some of my best (and worst) memories were made on a Stingray with Motomags, a Scrambler, a Jag, a Mongoose, a PK Ripper a Moto-one, a Race Inc, a Quadangle, a Red Line , I was there and rode them all, the hype and excitement back in the day for a BMX'er was incredible ! and then came mountainbikes man and we didnt have to push our bikes up the firetrails anymore ! ....thats a whole nother story .... but if you liked bmx and were there or even if you werent there...I HIGHLY suggest you see the movie "Joe Kid on a Stingray, The History of BMX" ...and be sure to check out the included extra features like the Yamaha Gold Cup of 1974 with some big kid named Stu Thomsen winning the Championships...... on a STINGRAY !
