How do you like the cream GP5000s? Have you had the chance to ride on them? I am running 28s on my Masi and love them.

Here's one thing I did that turned out ok. i think SP's are one of the best things to polish as they are the cherry on top. ;)

It was a PITA as the ano and corrosion/mottling changed and resurfaced many time before I finally got it evened out.

This is my first pair so no rides yet--I have always run some version of Continentals on my road bikes and I wanted tan sidewalls for the PX-10. They went on easily and look great, I'll let you know if they ride as good as they look!

Beautiful!! You aren't wrong--the seat post looks great polished but in my experience they are often the ugliest thing on the bike--from scratches to uneven surfaces they are not easy to get looking that pretty.

Nice! I used a scotchbrite wheel to remove dings and gouges off of a seatpost, then polishing compound to get it to this state - but I only did it where it was exposed above the seat lug. I was afraid to reduce the diameter of the seat post.

Tx!

This is one of the options for the custom Strawberry, still want to do a Campy 2 bolt but need to bite down on a conversion from Bob as none are long enough.

I used scotchbrite, wet/dry 800/1000? and myriad potions by hand, 2-3 days of scrubbing and sweating to get there.

Still like the chrome steel post/clamp/carriage best.

Would like to have a set done in show chrome. :twitchy:

Tx!

This one was normal or a little less for scratches, etc. but the anno/corrosion mottling was wack, it came and went with every session.

Did it by hand as I didn't want to take it down too much and did the whole thing to see how it was working on the bottom before spending the time up higher.

Lots of futzing and myriad potions before I finally got there. :twitchy:

Wow, let's see the whole bike. Looking awesome.

Got the shined up parts back on the bike last night--obviously still some work to do but I'm very happy with how this is coming together.

Gorgeous, thanks for sharing! That Stronglight 99 Crankset is just sick. Did you re-tap the threads for the pedals?

Nope! I got really lucky and found a crankset that was 9/16x20 from the factory.

Lovely but you'll never get a mirror finish on that RD. ;)

Nice!! I'm having no luck finding French threaded clipless pedals--I will probably have to alter the cranks but I can't go back to toe straps.

I'm not 100% sure those exist... but maybe they do?

I have Dura-Ace PD-7810 pedals on my Peugeot right now. They look the part and feel awesome!

Look made French threaded clipless pedals, you can usually find them between the rocking horse s**t and hen's teeth.

Agree! The PD-A520 are a slightly cheaper SPD pedal that (IMHO) polish up nicely and also look good on a vintage bike (once the Shimano logo is rubbed off....).

The PX is looking spectacular!

Polished stuff does look nice. But every time you polish, you're removing some metal. Do it enough and the piece will start to look like a well-used bar of soap. Of course, if you only polish occasionally, you're only damaging the part a little bit.

Yes it is, strip and polish, easy off is your friend. ;)

And yes, proceed with caution, I use drain cleaner, carefully soak and rinse, soak and rinse until I get just the ano off. :)

I’ve tried using Greased Lightning to remove anodizing with mixed results. I’ll give Easy Off a try though!
