Like they do with formula 1 cars, they make crazy reduction in weight below the minimum weight and then add weights at the bottom of the car to meet minimums.

The weights added tend to be lead or depleted uranium (not sure if they still use DU). They add the weights at the lowest part of the chassis to improve handling. I suppose you'll get the same results with bike.

I understand how you bring the weight up to minimum

Do you remember the carbon fiber racing yacht debacle, millions were spend on new racing catamarans built solely out of carbon fiber and they all sunk? Hopefully they will do a little testing before extolling the virtues of this new product

Actually, a lot of testing.

Me: Can I get one of those new plastic frames?
Bike Shop: No. Come back in 5-10 years
Me: So I can get a CF frame now?
Bike Shop: Also no, come back in 18-30 months
Me: Aluminum?
Bike Shop: 12 months
Me: Steel?!
Bike Shop: *open laughter*

It will cost a zillion dollars too !! But maybe they can give it a cool name that something rhymes with so we have another saying to throw around !!

And if the Pro Tour riders go with it, well then half the folks here will jump onboard!

A perfect example of a company attempting to come up with a market edge but failed.
