After 15 or so years with the same bike it was time to get a new bike. That's not counting my Crusier that I traded in as I just could not get into riding it,,,,,,,,,

My Raleigh. Smoothest shifting bike I've ever ridden. Has taken me the entire length of the Katy Trail twice.

My 2008 Giant Cypress. It helped me return to cycling and lose 40 lbs. It's been 100% reliable.

Here's my 2009 Trek 7.6FX. Modifications so far: Terry Fly Ti saddle, Wellgo clipless pedals, Ergo GR2 clamp-on grips with bar ends, scratches and new front brake cable following a crash. Oh, and a little bell.

It still is used as a utility bike. There is a 30 mile crushed stone path in Northern Illinois, should I take the Cypress? Michael |
Here's a photo of the hybrid that got me back into cycling back in June 2007. I looked at Trek, Specialized, Fuji, but decided on this one. Bike was very responsive and served me well.
I ended up selling it in May 2008 to one of my cousins. Funny, because when ever we ride, I always check the computer, check/adjust derailleurs,brakes,etc. or just ride it. |

I'm glad to see the new Hybrid forum, and did vote yes for it. Here's my '93 Bianchi Avenue that I bought new. Bianchi's term for the hybrid series at the time was "Cross Terrain". It has a chrome moly lugged steel frame.
Modifications include Sun wheels with sealed bearings from Harris cyclery. Nice. Here is my 2 year old Trek 7000. I've done some upgrades to add some speed / strength due to my size. The bike has been a lot of fun. |

96 Trek 790 commuter bike. I pedaled through the Boston Big Dig to Charleston all 4 seasons for
most of it's construction. With plenty of centuries on it I guesstimate about 24,000 miles. A bottle generator lit the front and rear lights. It is still in great shape as I gave it to a family member. |

I replaced the Trek 790 with a Specialized Tricross as a winter bike commuter/fun bike.
I consider the Tricross a hybrid as I don't believe it is a true cross bike. I like the Tricross as I had never used drop bars in the winter time before.:) |

I was East Weymouth, We inadvertently ruined the town. What happend was we voted to go from town government to a city government. Sounded like a great idea at the time, there would be more money available for the new police station / fire station (incredible building) new police cars and the ladder truck that didn't fit in the new fire station ( don't get me going on that 1)
What we didn't realize was going to happen was we now had city zoning. well this is what happened. Everyone that could subdivided there property, built a 2nd house then sold them both & got out of Dodge. Condos and apartment complexes went up where ever the was enough land. Then the infrastructure failed, There was insignificant water pressure to feed all these new dwellings, the roads couldn't handle to congestion. Getting around during peak hours was imposable. That was 10 years ago, What a mess |

My Backup Bike is an '03 Big Buzz. Spends most of its time hanging in the garage; most of my miles since 2006 have been recumbent.

I'm partial to road bikes and C/V, so does this creation pass as a hybrid? I think it does for the following reasons. Positioning is between road and mountain, gearing is the same, and shifting is on the bar. While the wheels are road, they will accept tires up to 25c or perhaps 28c. The seat will be changed to a black one, and I'll probably put on a matching wheelset. What do true hybrid riders think?
