If you bracket the decade surrounding the famous Miles *****es Brew album, you have my favorite period off jazz.
Some of the emergent releases right before hand are great, so much young talent, you can really feel the energy and big things about to happen. Nefertiti, Filles de Kilimanjaro or In a Silent Way (where my bikeforums avatar is from) are some of my favorite albums, featuring dissonant melodies and the introduction of electric instrumentation. And then these young guys (Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Tony Williams) all went on to make their own fusion groups - Weather Report, Headhunters, Return to Forever etc. And you know what? It all kicks ass. |
Also, this is gonna seem kinda silly, but Liz and I are excited that we just assembled and installed our own toilet. We didn't do the flange, plumber did that, but we did everything over that. After we got the insurance payout, we looked for a few ways to reduce the quote with the contractors, and saved some $$$ in the process.

Jazz might as well be clasical as far as having any interest to me. Or opera. I would sooner listen to country, and I don’t much like that either

Primo-quality plywood. The whole car was painted in orange bedliner, that stuff can't be light either. I'm surprised that thing can get up a hill. |
