OT but vintage never the less, from 1983. Found at the curb in the original box, still in its plastic bag an unused Sears sleeping bag.
New owners of the house are starting to clear out the attic.

A Hillary named bag. Thinking I might bring it along when I go camping out of my 1995 Jeep YJ this summer.

I bought a group of bikes, tools, parts and miscellaneous off FB marketplace. Some nice bikes and nice parts, including some NOS stuff. Ad had been up for a while at an attractive price, but seller wanted buyers to take everything or forget it.

Litespeed is full DA with a nice Chris King HS (RD is XTR, but the original DA RD was in the box). Fondriest is full Ultegra. MTBs are a mix of parts, the GT has desirable GT red hub wheels. Park repair stand was included too.

Nice haul Bill!

digging the GT especially! I see a lot of their models out in the wild but not one of those.

Literally saved from the dump at my city’s annual week long spring cleaning green waste facility:

A grungey but otherwise mostly serviceable Giant Talon 29er of unknown vintage. Forks are not great, brake pads need replacing, seat is cut, but the fatal flaw is a seriously misshapen front wheel. Maybe the collective will have something.

Under the dirt it looks pretty good:

Upgraded to a Deore rear derailleur I had in my parts box

Those red hubs were made for GT by Hadley, and they are truly the hubs of the gods. I have a couple wheel sets built in those hubs and they are fantastic. Better than the vaunted Chris King. Very nice score!

I'm really liking that Litespeed as well.

Just picked this up, 1986ish Bianchi Trofeo. From the owner who bought it new,
Probably needs everything..

Picked up this Schwinn Duro. Thinking I would pair it with a High Sierra. Mid 80's? With 18" wheels and bullmoose bars...

Cool little ride. Mini Bullmoose? edit: or are they full size, cut narrow? never seen those. How wide are they?

BMX museum has that bike as a 1973 - https://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/schwinn/109799

I’m in my home town for a high school class reunion and, as usual, cruised the thrift stores and pawn shops for bikes. I’ve found some fun projects in this and other small towns that way. This time I found this 2001 Trek 6500 in a pawn shop for $70. The tires and tubes have been replaced but the rest of it looks original. The 3X9 Deore group set is in great shape, and the frame has mounts for disk calipers. It looks to me like the 6700 from that year used the same frame and had an option for disk brakes.

I cleaned it up, adjusted the derailleurs, lubed the chain, aired up the tires, and went for a ride on the multi-use path that runs behind our RV park. There are some paint dings that I think I can touch up and I’m going to rebuild the fork. It’s otherwise all in such good shape that I’m going to leave it stock.

I saw that and would predate Tom Ritcheys' creating them.

Ritchey created? peaked my curiousity, got any more on that story?

Thanks for the width on the bars, they are mini, 4 1/2" narrower than the bullmoose on my Peugeot, which measure an even 23".

Thanks, haven't looked at that one recently. I mis-interpreted your original post, I thought you had meant Ritchey was in on creating the Duro, which seemed odd. I had read/knew the part about the bullmoose before, but for some reason missed the obvious in you OP.

Very good choice :thumb:It is a USA made frame of the highest quality.

Many of those parts are not original. I know, I bought 2 1986 Trofeos (and I have one in my basement). It should have Campy Super Record derailleurs, an Ofmega crank/BB, and Modolo Equipe brakes. I’m “restoring” the bike I bought when I was in college for L’Eroica in Chianti.

Yes, the brakes are about the only original parts.

The FD and maybe the wheels are original, too. I don’t have the original fork (due to an accident). I wish I had yours! Looks like the same size as mine (59cm).

One of the rims is original, the other is a newer MA40. I think the Campy FD is probably original.
This one was probably going to the thrift store if I hadn't grabbed it. The patina is fairly serious, but the tubes are undamaged. I've not yet decided how I will build it back up.

Was driving home from doggie playtime and spotted this hanging at a neighborhood garage sale. Looked my size so had to check it out. Great condition and got it for $10. No Fear brand too. Will definitely be worn.

I had one of those. That underseat steering is dyslexic.

Not vintage, but it has “retro” in the name. I won this bike at an event called pedal for prizes in Old Brooklyn Cleveland. It’s a great event, been to it many times. This year was really well attended and the whole family had a good time. My 12 year old

daughter pedaled 10 miles on her own power, so I was proud of her effort.
