Stolen Bikes and Police Notices

This thread is to provide a central point for publicizing your stolen bikes. It's a closed thread, you will need to contact a staff member to get your item in, but it's free to all. If you don't have the minimum post count to send a PM, remember, there's always email, you can email me at tom(at)bikeforums(dot)net, or any of the staff at their username(at)bikeforums(dot)net.

We will post the location, year, and make/model of the bike and a picture for you. Hopefully, this will be the slowest growing thread in BF history. If you recover your bicycle, click the report post icon and tell us (the black triangle on the lower left of the post), so the staff can edit in that the bike was recovered.

Stolen bike in San Jose
09 Cannondale Six Carbon 5 road bike, white, 50 cm, serial number UM47262, tires with distinct green sidewalls (Vittoria Open Pave'), red eggbeater pedals, WTB Rocket seat. Stolen from the second floor inside a gated complex. This is second time my bike got stolen, 08' Stumpie mtb was the first one about a year ago (car got broken in, same place, underground garage, caught on security camera, still no progress).

I know the perp's phone number and email. He may ditch the bike, I had few texts back and forth, it's him or his kids. If you happen to see the bike, please secure it and PM for a phone number.

Appreciate your help!

Keep an eye on craigslist and eBay... you'd be surprised how often they show up there.

I'm really sorry to read this.

Best wishes for a successful retrieval.

Good luck on finding your stolen bicycle. Though I don't mean this in a mocking way, isn't leaving your $2000+ Trek Madone in front of a store kind of asking someone to steal it? I have a Trek also and would never leave it unattended for any amount of time anywhere.

mechBgon 08-18-11 09:56 AM

Here's hoping you get it back. BTW a Madone 5.1 calls for nothing less than a top-of-the-line lock if you're leaving it in public. I'd use a Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit chain or U-lock.

[h=2]Stolen Miyata 1000 [/h]
I have the unfortunate news that my mint '86 Miyata 1000 was stolen in lower Manhattan yesterday, in front of the Blue Smoke restaurant on 255 Vesey Street. It's a 54cm model with a Brooks Honey saddle, an olive Carradice Barley saddle bag and brand new VO smooth aluminum fenders. Don't ask; I just don't even want to talk about it. http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

But if you see or hear of this bike, I'd sure appreciate it if you let me know. Thanks!
(The VO fenders pictured were just replaced with new, smooth aluminum VO fenders, and there was an olive Carradice Barley saddlebag attached):

Stolen Bikes and Police Notices

For now this one...until a mod points me in the right direction.

Recently we've had a string of bikes being stolen in our region (Columbus, GA) All high end road bikes or mountain bikes, in broad daylight, one even right in front of the LBS.

Today, sadly, just before the group ride (first of the year) my girlfiends 2012 Trek Madone 5.2 (black on black) with ultegra (also black) was stolen outside her office downtown while she was changing into her gear. She left the back on the back of the rack, secured with a lock (I put it on myself) and came out 10 minutes later and the bike was gone.

If you happen to see one posted in your region in the next few months, inbox me. Thanks.

Also stolen was a friends Cannondale Scalpel.

I'm setting up a sting bike with the spybike system. Hoping over the next week or two somebody nabs it and we can find out where they are going, in the mean time I'd suggest you add one, seems like it's worth the money vs. the pain of losing your bike.

edit: hello old friends, been awhile...been super busy =)

Bike stolen from SoCal Metrolink

Yesterday,8/28/13, on Metrolink train 602 southbound someone stole a carbon Scattante w/Ultegra components off the bike car with a half dozen people (including the moron posting this:eek:) watching. Here is how it went down. I was talking to someone when I heard a noise, looked down to the other side of the car to see that a bike had fallen over. The guy who owned the bike was sitting next to it and went to pick it up when some other guy pulled the Scattante that was under it and walked right off the train. The guy I was talking to said "hey. I think that guy just stole that bike".

Here is what we pieced together. A$$wipe knocked over the first bike-a Cannondale Evo-to see if the owner was near by. When that bikes owner revealed himself, the dirtbag went for the bike under it. This was all timed to coincide with the train pulling into the station (Laguna Niguel).

One witness said the thief had boarded the train at Anaheim station and was asking him questions about his bike. He was also carrying a set of MTB handlebars he was trying to sell. The witness said the guy seemed shady, and it was this witness who noticed, too late, the bike being taken off the train as the doors closed.

Anyone who has ridden the trains knows the protocol is that once those doors close and the train starts rolling, they don't stop for anything short of hitting something. The thief obviously knew this too since he timed it to be off the train just as the doors closed.

I will post more details later after I get a chance to speak to the witness again to get a description of the thief, and get a better description of the bike from the victim.

Watch Craigslist list for Ultegra parts, as parting bikes seems to be this Q!@#%#$'s MO. He dropped the MTB bars were he grabbed the bike.

Dear cycling community,

I have a favor to ask of you guys. I know a few threads pop up everywhere about stolen bikes and can you please find mine and be on the look out... I need your guys' help in finding my cousin's bike. The story behind the bike is that it was his dad's bike before he passed away during a triathlon. My cousin was going to do a triathlon on the same bike in honor of his father. Unfortunately over the past weekend, the bicycle was stolen from their garage in the San Pedro area.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=338377

The bike is a yellow specialized allez with a Reynolds carbon fork. We are currently cruising through craigslist looking for it. If you find the bike or have a clue about its whereabouts, please message me.

I appreciate all of you who took the time to read this. I know that recovering a stolen bike in California is like finding water in a desert but I'm hoping this might become a feel good story on KTLA.

Thanks
