Probably wouldn't crank if it was the battery. Might be a fuel pump issue.

I think this is where a not-very-good mechanic will tell you, "Yeah, that year of car, they'll do that."

I'm not bragging; I'm trying to help people not get stuck and fail. That happened to my mother recently with... I think the word was WATCH? She had ?ATCH and failed to find the right first letter in time out of BCHPMWL.

Bragging - I just said I'm dumber than everyone thinks. :foo:

I'll have to give that some thought. But coming up with a word that uses as many letters as possible of all the ones you want to test, while actually being a real 5-letter word, is almost as much of a puzzle.

Those had an issue with the coolant temp sensor reading incorrectly, thus causing the ECM to think it's colder than it really is. This will richen the mixture just like pulling a choke closed.

Could be. He could check the connector and see if it's green and fuzzy. Watch the data and manipulate the connector and tap the sensor. Check for codes.
Could also be the fuel pump which would be a lot harder to diagnose unless it acts up while being checked.

Rare I've seen a connector issue on those, but I live in the arid high desert. Coolant Temp Sensor is a true pattern fail on those.

I will update Saturn diagnosis tomorrow after I hear from mechanic. It’s possible everything will be fine. Battery seems strong though.

Saturn in '96 wasn't fuel injected? Along those lines starter brushes or did that go away in the 70's. Not sure if he got it hot before restarting.

Not good. I take it results were to be more immediate in nature?

it was a diagnostic test to find the nerves that carry the pain signal. They hit them with lidocaine to temporarily numb it. Since it didn't do jack it was a fail. They did a lumbar medial branch block on L3 down to S1.

All this discussion about a nearly 30 year old car and taking it to a mechanic. SMH. Should take it to the dealer for NCD!

All GM cars and trucks were injected after 1987 with a couple exceptions. He seemed to think it was cranking ok. I don't know if that car has an external fuel pressure regulator but that could cause a long crank time/start and stall thing.

CHOMP would get a bunch that end in ?ATCH. Or WHIMP. Just suggestions.

I misread the OP and LAJ 's comment.

I paid NFL.com a dollar to watch the Superbowl. Today they offered me the whole season free. As a member of the international community. I haven't watched regular season football in many years, but this year could be different. They say the AFC is loaded with top notch qbs.

seedsbelize2 03-28-22 06:01 PM

I wish GCN+ would do that.

Hey donít exaggerate! Itís only 24 years old. Barely middle aged by Saturn standards.

The joke was insensitive, but did not justify hitting or cursing like he did. There was a much more appropriate way to handle the situation.

I doubt there will be any charges. It looked like a pretty weak slap.

I saw a movie recently(don't remember the name of it) where the car did just that. On the second try though, it blew up. Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts
