Specialized stem ID
So the MB-1 came with a pretty cool Big S stem/bar combo.
They may get moved to a Stumpy if I don't go with bullmoose which is what this would probably get if I do move them. Pretty sure they are a set and maybe a bit rare as I cannot find another example anywhere yet. The serrations on the bar match the stem and are not the same as a Slingshot stem and X-2+2 bars, these are narrower. The bars are stamped Specialized X-1+2, the stem is stamped on the quill S P with a dot in the middle. Guess they are identified but would like to know what they were used on and when since we already know about bullmoose, putterhead and slingshot, never seen these. :foo: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8666c118c1.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c20abeca10.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1c45f143b1.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1ac5c21607.jpg |
Help?

The S P might be only a date code.

Still doesn't tell us much if anything about what they may have came on. :crash: |
100% sure that's a Nitto product. Spec's bars in those days were frequently rebranded/made by Nitto. The giveaway is the quill/wedge, as well as the forging of the extension (look at a Nitto Dirt Drop) which is a perfect match for the contemporary products made by Nitto.

Seems very odd to me that no other examples can be found and no one else so far has ever seen them either. :bang: Maybe these are the only ones ever made and I hit the jackpot. :roflmao2: |
That same combo has sold on ebay several times, but not recently. They tend to bring $100 or more.

I have a couple of those Spesh X1 bars somewhere that were attached to cast alloy SR "slingshot" stems, but I haven't seen that X1+2 before.
