New Light Bicycle wheels
 

I got my Light Bicycle AR46 wheelset with DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs last week and just put them on today. They look to be very solid and the tech who swapped my old cassette onto the new hub said he thought they were very nice wheels. The hubs feel and sound amazing… will take them on a longer ride next weekend!

Cool. How long did it take you to get them?

I ordered July 11th so about 6 weeks total. I actually think I got them 2 weeks ago.

They also threw in an extra set of carbon rim brake pads at no cost, all I did was ask 😁

Very good customer service. I emailed back and forth with them quite a bit before ordering and it was not just a random person… it was someone who cares about cycling and you could tell.

Great to hear their customer service is good. I plan on ordering a set or two of rims from them and want the Campagnolo-style brake pads that they say they have but don't have an easy way to mark that I want them. Will have to email. Did you get the upgraded brake track? Brakes grab ok (for carbon)?

These are my first carbon rims so I really have no point of comparison. They’re definitely not as grabby as the stock aluminum rims/pads but I feel confident when braking still.

I've got three sets of their wheels. Their customer service is always top notch. My last wheels (AR35s, Novatec hubs) took forever (ordered in May, arrived in August), but like everybody else, they've been having supply chain issues. I don't know if their situation has improved, but if it matters to you, you might check with them first to see what their current time-to-ship is for your particular build.

They are selling gravel bike frames now, also.

As to braking quality with rim brakes? I guess they're no worse then any other wheel without an alloy rim track. In other words, pretty terrible.

Congrats! Mine will be going on 3years of continuous use on September 20th still perfectly wonderful.

I wonder what proportion of their business comes directly or indirectly from that thread?

I'm just curious what this means. The sound it makes is different than it made before? Or something else entirely?

DT swiss hubs are much louder than some others, for example Shimano....

Oh.... that makes sense. That's what I have always disliked about the Axis hubs on my Tarmac. I think they are made by DT swiss exclusively for Specialized.

It is a downer for someone like me coming from the relatively quiet Shimano free hubs. But I've gotten so use to it over the last year and a half I'd forgotten about all the noise I now make.

It wouldn't be a no for me though if I had to buy a noisy freehub. But if they build them with something quieter, I'd pay more money to get them with that hub. But not much more.

I disliked the noise when I went from Shimano to DT Swiss. Then I just got used to it.

Yes I have the same DT hubs (also on LB wheels). They are annoying, especially because my other wheel set has Ceramic Speed hubs which are whisper quiet.

Look on the bright side though, you don't need a bell if pedestrians need some notice .. just pedal backwards for a sec and they will know you are there.
