Suggestions for Flat Pedals & cages or straps
 

I've currently got some Origin8 track pedals with some MKS toe cages. The pedals are kinda small platform wise, so I'm looking for something larger. I want to either be able to continue using the toe cages i've got, or switch to some straps.
I was looking at RaceFace Chester pedals, but it doesn't look like they take cages or straps.

Suggestions?

Looking to spend around $50-60 for a set of pedals.

I’m a fan MKS’s products and they have the Sylvan Gordito pedals. At the upper-end of the budget but you can mount clips. I haven’t tried them, no affiliation, etc.

MKS pedals and cages have been very good for me.

I am not a clips and straps person but I have had a few pairs of MKS pedals and I like them, heck a former friend liked them so much he refused to let me keep them and was dying to have them and finally we traded for a bunch of home cooked food which was really delicious but I ended up having to get a another set of MKS pedals (and slightly regretted the decision because I liked those pedals a bit more though it was really top notch food and I like to eat) I also bought a set for a co-worker who had his Lambdas for probably a decade or more but gave him the new Gamma pedals with the pins so he doesn't slip.

Before I switched to SPD pedals I ran Redline Monster PC platforms and Holdfast straps. Sealed bearings so they still spin great several years later, I think they're discontinued now though

I ran MKS Sylvan track pedals with Christophe clips and ALE straps for many years; I still have a set on my favorite fixer-gear beater.

I am currently running mks urban platforms and mks double straps on one bike - they work great for me with Samba's (soft soled sneakers) and the ability to put a foot on the ground in a split second in heavy traffic is not matched by my speedplay clipless pedals.

Former pedal + plastic toe cup-only user, I just went through this for my commute bike and bought Race Face Ride pedals and Origin 8 straps. I'm happy with the combo, but the straps were a tight fit through the pedals' slots. With a sharp knife I thinned the initial velcro surfaces off a few mm of the straps to allow them to get through the pedals to the point where I could grab the strap with pliers.

I bought the Ride pedals because they don't have the shin-biting steel studs of the Chesters.

They're fine with my usual running shoes and yesterday with my bulky hiking boots except for the boots I had to extend the straps so much that they were too limp to slide in without some hand help.

If you wear soft-soled shoes (as opposed to rigid-soled bike shoes), consider the MKS "Urban Platform" pedal. It's patterned after the venerable Lyotard mod.23 "Marcel Berthet" pedal and has a broad lip to facilitate shoe entry into the toeclip.

N.B. Marcel Berthet was a French national track racing champion back in the 1930s, when Lyotard designed their mod. 23 pedal.

A second thumbs up for the MKS Urban Plat. Nice and wide, handles clips and straps (mine are double) and the biggest toe flip for clumsy feet!

i really like those mks urban platforms but they don't look like they are double sided - and there are times when i just need to start pedaling quickly without putting my foot into the cages.

They are not double sided

they also aren't a large platform

they are great but yeah maybe not what you are looking for right now
