I have no idea whether or not this is a good bike, I just love the pink! I don't know the model yet but it's from the 80s. She's asking $75 and even though I don't need another bike I WANT!!!!

Looks like some sort of Peugeot mountain bike from the 80's - might make a nice city cruiser. $75 seems fair, but I'd offer 50 - probably needs tires,cables, general tune up. Lot's of help here if you want to fix it yourself.
Cool bike though, pearl white and pink - you're moniker is Rose after all.
If it fits you (size wise) it just might fit you (personality wise)!

Yes it's my size! I'm waiting to hear back about the model so I can do a little more research. I've been scouring google images with no luck. I just love the pink and white though! It appears to be missing the rear brake. :notamused:

The rear brake is mounted on the chain stays. It seemed to be a late 80's thing that went away after a while.

I've always liked the rainbow stripe decal Peugeots. It's frustrating because Peugeot road bikes are better documented online than their mtbs. Would it have killed them to scan a few extra pages of those catalogs? 1980's Peugeot Catalogs

Ah yes, I see the brake now. I've never seen those before!

Can't find any info on this model!! The only thing I know is that it's from '84 - '88. Anyone have an idea?

Definitely second half of the 80s. One of the "Express" models. You could concentrate on matching components and geometry to find the exact one.

That's what's known as a U-brake. Probably a 86-88 model.

The rainbow and pink paint scheme with U brake would indicate 87-88 express these had fairly nicely constructed frames and good basic components. They make for nice solid commuters or recreational riders. Pricing on bikes with these 80's miami vice paint schemes is a bit different probably worth $150 to someone who really likes the look and pink and $100 or so to someone who doesn't maybe less.

After looking at what feel like 100s of peugeot bikes from the online catalogues I came to the same conclusion that it mostly resembles the express bikes, especially those from '86 - '87. If that is the case, I suppose I will check to see if it has similar components to these bike to help determine the value?

Offer $50.

This is for sale in a local FB group - first come first serve. If I don't take it at $75 there are a few people behind me who will.

So there is a market then if you end up with buyers remorse. Kinda a no-brainer then -nothing to lose.

Great point. However, people in this FB can be a little flaky. Anyone can claim interest and join the queue but that doesn't guarantee a sale. But still a great point. Thanks! :)

75 is fair, cheaper is always better... Cash in hand can make a difference.
That said, lot's of us have overpaid for a bike with no regrets; when will you see another; what's 25 bucks, really?

For all the USA guys suggesting to offer $50, that's almost the same as seventy fove loonies these days!

So I get in from work this evening and lock up my current bike and notice this super dusty peugeot collection series L.R.C. locked up two bikes away from mine in the parking garage! It looks almost identical to the one in the pic - just a few differences. So I can't find any evidence of the MacKenzie or even collection series after scouring the net for hours, and yet here, in my building, exists one almost identical. It's made in Canada with peugeot carbolite 103 tubing. So it's not Cro-Moly like the express bikes. In any case, I'm going to check the bike out tomorrow evening.

**** Took a closer look at the L.R.C. Has Sakae stem (it appears to be the exact same one on the MacKenzie), crankset is also "Custom" Sakae, rear derailleur is Shimano SIS.

Looking at the picture, seems like that MacKenzie sticker is a sticker and not a decal, I don't think it has anything to do with the bike model. MacKenzie is a fashion designer, right? Most likely explanation is the bike or bikes might have been part of a promotional give-away back in the 80s.

I'm pretty sure it is the model because I've since seen several other "Collection Series" models, such as the L.R.C. and these ones...

Ah, I stand corrected. I guess it's just another one of those mysteries that fuel the mystique of the Peugeot line. :)

Bike was a bust. Full of rust, chipped paint and peeling decals. :( Will keep my eye open for something similar though. Gotta have me a rainbow peugeot! lol :D

Lori, I went to a local shop's "As is" sale a few years back looking for a fun summer fix gear frame. "As is" - no test ride, no return. Any bikes not sold that day go to the dumpster. $40, $30 and $20. There was a Peugeot road bike, frame, fork, crankset and pure junk components hung on it. '88-90. It had been hit by probably a SUV, hard. Dented top tube, trashed fork (and I didn't see - chainstays about to break). Reynolds 501 tubing. Tape measure suggested a good fit. I paid the $20 knowing that if it was rideable its name would be "Team Dumpster"

Got it on the road for another $85 and parts I had on hand. First ride? "This bike is as much fun as my old racing bike of 30 years ago and more than every bike I have had since!" Two weeks later I saw the cracks in the chainstays totaling a full revolution. With my old boatbuilding skills, epoxy and a scrap of carbon fiver I had been holding on to for a decade, I made a permanent repair. A month later, I heard a woman in recovery and a model citizen tell her story of addiction and wild behaviors. When she talked of expecting many mornings to be found in a dumpster, I got it. The bike's name is Jessica, her name.

Jessica is now retired (after 8000 miles), but has inspired Jessica J, my custom ti fix gear sharing Jessica's geometry and handling (except NOT the slinky low Peugeot bottom bracket; this is a fix gear! Jessica J is my new most fun bike and the first fix gear I have ever had that is truly at home in the hills, my other love.

So keep looking for that Peugeot. There's some good karma there.
