I know they're out there, I've caught hints and rumors and occasionally even pics amongst the (otherwise) C&V crowd of *gasp!* modern carbon fiber road bikes. Give 'em up, let's see them. Details also appreciated. No judgement—I'm actually considering road racing again in my age class, which would pretty much demand a modern bike to keep up with the competition.

I've worked in a shop recently enough that I've ridden quite a few "wunderbikes", but would never own one myself. These frames were available pre-covid for ~$220, which made it cheaper than buying almost anything else. Went with a French Fit XL. My build includes Ritchey gravel Beacon bars, Sensah 9spd brifters, and a Willow triplizer 46/30 chainring setup on a triple crank. It's fast, but way too stiff for me to ride much.

I “might” know the person that owns this. It is considered modern but still >10 years old . Colnago EPS with what people say, but we know it’s not true, 1st Gen Super Record 11 speed, Zipp 202 wheels. It weighs a little over 15.5 lbs. I recently went bike shopping with a friend as he dropped a shocking $10k on a new Trek Madone. I weighed it for him, expecting to tell him how stupid light it is but it was 16.75 lbs - I guess batteries for electronic shifting. Anyway, this person likes the Colnago a lot and bought it used for way, way less than that Trek.

I'll play. I used to own a Trek Madone, but saw the error of my ways many years ago and now have a full steel stable.

I have never even heard of that brand. MUSEEUW... at first I thought it said "MUSEUM," which would be kind of ironically funny.

Kinda funny (at least to me). Named after a rider, e was from Belgium. The frame has a big "Handbuilt in Belgium" painted logo on the seattube and has flax mixed into the weave. Interestingly, when you look inside the bb shell, there are stickers in an Asian language. My guess is that the company bought a bunch of chinese frames and "finished" them with a local flax subsidy.

I think mine is a bit more forgiving. Borderline classic going into vintage. 2003 Lemond Tete. Ultegra R8000 groupset with Roval wheels and Zipp cockpit.

I believe this is a 2015 or 2016 model, bought used, sans wheels, for a really good price, 2-3 years ago.

It says "Domane" on the top tube, but aside from the hinge at the seat cluster, it's a completely different bike with much shorter wheelbase and steeper angles characteristic of the Madone.
Offered in just four sizes, the smallest being 56cm. The molds were created for specific riders on the Segafredo Trek team, but Trek ran off about 100 examples in each size for sale as frame-only, to satisfy UCI "availability" reqiuirements at the time.. These are beefed up, so not very light (though were very expensive). The dropout/hanger is deeply-rooted, non-replaceable, thick stainless steel plate, intended to allow a crashed rider to continue on racing.
Trek used an existing fork for this model, but with special rearward-angled dropouts to reduce the fork offset.

These frames/bikes were known as the "Koppenberg", which was I believe is a particularly steep climb that follows cobbled section of the Tour of Flanders.
Fabian Cancellara used an early version of this frame to win Paris-Roubaix in 2013 I believe, but he nor Trek repeated that victory on one of these bikes, if ever.

Hilariously, this bold Shimano sponsorship paint job was adorned with SRAM Red components, as this bike was owned and built by a former Olympic selected rider who built it for his own use post-retirement.
My example, with 2nd-gen R-Sys Exalith wheels, and including pedals, weighs just under 16lbs.

Here's my now 3 year old carbon fiber framed, Ultegra Di2 equipped, 16.5 lb Fuji SL2.1 on the day that I picked it up. Great bike.

Here's me and my 2008 Giant OCR Composite 1. All carbon fiber. It snowed in Memphis for a week this past Feb. Then the temp rose to 65. Warm enough to wear bike shorts when there was snow still on the ground.
