They're going to need surveillance set up on every sign on this interstate.

Balcom Canyon is a short climb they used in the ATOC. It has a short 22% bit. I've climbed it 3 times, always with a low gear that wasn't low enough.

Theres a few climbs on both sides of the Mohawk River that exceed 20% for spots. On the other side of the Hudson from me you start getting some really good climbs as well.

I have some doozies around here also . . . part of the reason I'm still cycling retired. Did I ever mention my driveway is 25%?

Not slower. 8 finishes closer to the next letter. It's a net equal to 7.

After writing the letter for a couple of years now, I've figured out how to make it work. When exact spacing is critical, I lay out guide lines for ALL letters. Working as a draftsman back in the days when that work was done with a pencil taught me a few things about lettering

whyfi, are you on a laptop, desk top, ? Apple made this way better for me, much more realistic. Climbs aren't so abrupt, etc.I can actually gain "momentum" and excellarate, it's not as much of a slog.

Have you started looking for homes for the other bikes yet?

I saw an interesting thing on the tame foxes that Russian scientist made - he bred the least wary/most human-oriented ones for several generations. Turns out that a domesticated fox is not like a dog. Because foxes are more solitary animals than wolves, they don't bond to humans like the wolf-derived dog. They don't especially want to cuddle, for example.

check out Save a fox on you tube. It's a fur factory sanctuary. The woman running it has a good grasp of how they think.

More news. The monoclonal antibodies we offer for covid infections has no activity against Omicron so our hospital is stopping their program effective Friday. There apparently is/will be a new version but not available.

Sigh.

I'm running a desktop with plenty of horsepower.

Looks staged. Fake news. Sad.

Fun fox hunting fact: in Pennsylvania (with rare exceptions), you cannot hunt on Sundays. But you can hunt/kill a fox on Sundays. I am guessing that's because foxes are considered pests while deer/bears/etc. are not.

Just Terra Speed 35s without studs. There was a wintry mix so there was some ice under but the snow actually provided plenty of traction.

Looks like daughter and husband have COVID after exposure to a family all of whom recently tested positive. He was sick for a day two and she’s asymptotic so far. They’re in Iceland at the moment.

Ugh. It's very contagious. I expect they will be ok but still sucks.

phrantic09 12-21-21 08:15 AM

This morning further convinced me that a one-bike solution is probably the best way to go. By the time I had everything swapped, I only had time for a short ride.

I just have to convince my wife now.

Bummer. Hopefully they stay not that sick.
