Is a grease stain on one's calf a sign of a newbie or just someone who rode their bike that day

Folks around here call chain grease stains on your calf a "rookie mark", or a "newbie tattoo".

It's the sign of someone who puts the wrong foot down when they stop.

Happens to me literally every day, my right leg has a few faded marks that I didn't scrub out in the shower well enough and i havent even ridden today yet
