Rather than post pics of the chromed Nervex lugs on my Raleigh International or Prugnat lugs on the Raleigh Team, I figure that I should just post the most unique lugs in my small group of bikes.
That, obviously, is the Hetchins Magnum Opus!
For a Magnum Opus, it's pretty tame.. i.e. no chrome. It was built in 1987, and the use of chrome had largely gone out of style.

a shot of the whole bike, just to provide context for the detail shots....

John got a look at this bike at his ride in 2019, and did a quick video of it too.

I feel like this sort of thread is in constant danger of becoming a "show us your high end English bikes" thread. I like my Nervex lugs, but even they have to up their game to even be an also-ran next to a Hetchins.

I think the US imported Motobecane had unusually fine lug work compared to their competitors of the day and the custom lugs were nicely designed.

One of the unique attributes of the Trek 760 series was the fork crown from 83-84 or so.

SJX426, Now that looks like a European Motobecane. Don't see those in the US very often. I was talking about the first two bikes in Andy_K's post. But the master as far as I am concerned is Peter Weigle. It takes a really artistic eye to design the curves of a fancy lug to be aesthetically pleasing and Peter nails it every time. Some fancy lugs look like a three year old went nuts with crayons but a good lug designer has real style to the shape of the lugs.
