I dig your Galaxy. The finish is so 60-70s Brit, and sprinkled with 600 EX.
Interesting how the rear brake is cantilever, yet the fork is not.
I wonder why they came up with that?

Those Trek TX bikes are really special. They've got that 70s "touring" geometry which is more of the 80s "sport touring" geometry- so much of what a bike was back then.

My guess is it's based around "locking up the front wheel and going over the bars" instead of better braking in the front.

I see something different for this one....I would config this one as a dirt road trekking bike. Geometry looks a bit tighter than most tourers. Should be fun with a set of cross tires.

Wish it was a lighter frameset but that's because of years of being brainwashed to think that lightness is everything. I already have a light bike. I keep reminding myself of that. I keep looking for something to put flipped northroad bars on, maybe i'll try it on this one.

a Backwoods Mistaya made by Fuji I got from member mstrpete from here years ago. It is still sitting in storage after all these years, just as you see it sans bars, seats, and cranks. It is still down with family in Waukesha. I really need to grab this thing and put it together one of these days, I think I have everything I need except a good saddle.

my 1980 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8, halfway through my second century ride. Sold as a touring bike, but almost no braze ons. Original Brooks Professional saddle is heavenly. Rides like a dream with those fat tires and big wheels.

By the way, I rode out to Dousman last night- thought of you and your Mom when I got to the bridges right outside Waukesha.

If you want a great riding bike, then yeah, get'er back on the road.:) I picked one up a year or so ago on a hunch (couldn't find anything on it before I picked it up) since the price was right. Not stock anymore, but I like it.

I'm probably not going to be riding the Glacial Drumlin anymore this year, I only get down to Waukesha occasionally these days, but perhaps next year I will see you out there. With my schedule I usually only come down on weekends. Maybe we need a C&V meet-up and ride for local members?

I don't know how this project got pushed to the side, I think I had wanted to get it powdercoated but didn't have the money at the time so it stayed on hold.

Such a stupidly nice bike (I have ridden it) and such a great shot... such incredible colours.

1958 Motobecane, just arrived from France. Was packed for shipping but is totally disassembled now. Will build it back from scratch, including wheels. It should take a couple of months. Will keep you posted!

Very nice job! Did this bike originally have double chain-rings? It looks like it has tabs for a chain guard but also a braze on for the derailleur. Usually you get one or the other.
